"Visionary" Bio
Michael Thompson a.k.a. “Visionary” began his relationship with music at a very young age; he was blessed with a voice that inspired many. His foundation started out in the church singing gospel with his family. Michael then went solo and started singing all over Jamaica where he developed a strong following of supporters for his music.
“Visionary” began to travel the world, where he has been such place as Guadalupe, Antigua and The United States; He stayed in Philadelphia for sometime. Where he enrolled in Temple University’s music programmed, Michael began teaching Art Therapy to at risk, abused and delinquent children. Even with much success in that field he felt the urge to reach more people throughout the world through his music. Michael then migrated to Canada; it didn't take long for the Reggae scene to embrace this talented vocalist.
Visionary has performed at cultural events such as Miss Canada World, Miss Ghana and many other pageants around Ontario. He has opened for top Reggae artists such as: Dobby Dobson, Half Pint, Errol Dunkley; Loan Ranger, V.C, George Nooks, Admiral Bailey, Regina Belle, Prince Buster and Willi Williams. He continues to make appearances at various venues on the national and international scene Michael has appeared on such shows as Toronto International Cultural Reggae Festival, The Jerk Festival, Jamaica Day, Montreal International Reggae Festival, and The 21st Annual Canadian Reggae Music Award,
“Visionary” first full length much anticipated album was released in the summer of 2007. Working closely with Willi Williams ‘The Armageddon Man’ one of the true foundation members of reggae music, out of Drum Street label, the pair were able to gather a few of the Old Studio One players for this project, giving respect to the old and initiating the new, the out come has proven to be mystical. This album is sure to make a big impression on any Studio One lover.
Michael's style of music is hard-core conscious lyrics and a cool blend of lover’s rock reggae. His music can be heard as far around the world as Ghana Africa, France, IRIE FM, Power 106 FM, and Roots 96.1 FM in Jamaica where he won first place on “What’s The Verdict” hosted by Dudley Thompson, the radio audience voted Big Tune for his song Visionary off his new album “Brace Yourself “. Michael also Receive Rising Star of the year award for 2008 on “The Crucible” hosted by Luther Brown on C.H.R.Y 105.5 in Toronto, Canada.
