About Me

Progression Magazine Review (issue 50, Summer/Fall '06)Transformation is Tim Morse's two-year labor of love, an unabashedly intense progressive rock album that draws inspiration from the classic masters (Rush, Yes, Kansas, et al.) but stays rooted in the contemporary melodic prog ethic of Magellan and Spock's Beard. The latter also means strong production values, and Transformation's bright, technically pristine sound is a notable asset...As the title suggests, Transformation is a concept work tracing a series of events ultimately transforming the protagonist's life. Along the way we're treated to some densely arranged and accessible yet challenging music, including the Yes-like opener "Present Moment," the ornately pleasing instrumental "Prelude" and a sprawling 16 minute opus "Apocalyptic Visions." Morse's wide-ranging progressive palette also includes an ambient track, the closer "Ascension." If you're looking for a modern prog-rock album, nothing gets proggier.John Collinge (editor)
