Chit Chat Sex Band

The Chit Chat Sex Band es un proyecto de música electrónica “Made In Pamplona” creado y liderado por Iñaki Kreator, a.k.a. Chit Chat. A lo largo de los últimos años tanto la formación inicial del grupo como el carácter musical de los directos han evolucionado, finalmente creando dos versiones distintas de The Sex Band: una electrónica con matices illbient, trip-hop, y hard ambient, y otra más de club, es decir un contundente electro-techno orientado a las pistas de baile. Después de varios años pinchando en España, Francia, y Suiza, Kreator se hizo con unas máquinas y empezó a crear sus propios temas electrónicos. En poco tiempo tocó sus primeros directos bajo el nombre artístico, Chit Chat. Este nuevo alter-ego llegó a ser uno de los ganadores del festival Elektronikaldia que se celebra en Donostia-San Sebastián. Además del honor de ser reconocido, a Iñaki le premiaron con la inclusión de un tema suyo en un CD recopilatorio del festival mas una actuación junto a Super Collider en el auditorio Kursaal. Sobre la marcha le salieron cada vez más oportunidades para presentar su directo particular a nuevos públicos, compartiendo escenarios con Front 242, Super Collider, Zombie Nation, David Carreta, Mix-Master Morris, Playd, Claude Young, Steve Stoll, Regis, Manu le Malin, Mark Broom, Alek Star, Fumiya Tanaka, Woman Affair, Gaetek, Sideral, Codec and Flexor, Oscar Mulero, Cristian Wunch, Omar & Undo, Angel Molina, Miss Kittin, Richard Bartz, y muchos otros. En breve Iñaki buscó colaborar con otros talentos para seguir refinando su visión artística; otros músicos, cantantes, VJ’s, performance, y maquilladoras llegarían a incorporarse en los directos. De ahí nace The Chit Chat Sex Band. Su primera incorporación fue Joan, un chaval de 19 años que introducía técnicas “scratch.” Éste abandonaría el grupo más tarde para seguir su propia trayectoria artística como DJ. Luego Iñaki fichó a Erika, una maquilladora profesional especialista en maquillajes de fantasía quien aprendió su arte en el distrito teatral de Londres. Para aumentar aún más el aspecto visual de los directos Iñaki se junta con Jero a.k.a. Dropezframes, un video-jockey/ video-artista de élite quien maneja las impactantes proyecciones que él mismo crea. Después deciden que hace falta un cantante, y por si arte de magia, aparece Sam a.k.a. Sampler. Después de haber cantado con un grupo “grunge” de Austin, Texas, éste chaval tejano se vino a Europa para trabajar durante una temporada promocionando DJ’s norteamericanos; Iñaki y Sam se llegarían a conocer através de unos amigos que tenían en común y ya con el primer contacto decidieron trabajar juntos. Rápidamente grabaron su primer tema electro con voz, “Kick Time (“A Weapon of Mass Seduction.” K-Tech 01.) Después de unos ensayos los dos irían componiendo nuevos temas y a continuación la nueva formación empezó a salir a tocar en salas y festivales. Llegó el momento de grabar de nuevo, y esta vez Iñaki aprovechó la ocasión para reanudar su colaboración musical con un viejo compañero de sus días con el proyecto 3 Tap, Mikel Salas, un músico multifacético y profesor de informática musical en el Conservatorio Pablo Sarasate de Pamplona, además de ser un galardonado compositor de bandas sonoras de producciones de cine tanto nacional como internacional (por ejemplo Bagdad Rap, Romasanta, y su último trabajo, un film de Fernando Trueba en qué Mikel ha tenido el honor de trabajar con el grandísimo Enrique Morente.) Mikel contribuye guitarras, bajo, teclado, percusión y efectos. El fruto de estas sesiones son ocho temas variados, a veces cañeros, siempre emotivos, que serán en breve el primer LP de The Chit Chat Sex Band, “Go Team!” En ésta época Iñaki Kreator a.k.a. Chit Chat y Sampler están trabajando duro en nuevo material para los directos de The Chit Chat Sex Band que están por venir. ************************************************************ ************************************************************ ********The Chit Chat Sex Band is an electronic music project from Pamplona, Spain, created by Iñaki Kreator, a.k.a. Chit Chat. Over time the lineup and musical character of the group have evolved, eventually leading to two distinct versions of their live show: one version features electronica in the line of illbient, trip-hop, and hard ambient, while the other is a more potent electro-techno to move the clubbers on the dance floor. After several years DJing in Spain, France, and Switzerland, Iñaki Kreator got his hands on some hardware and began to produce and play his own tracks under the stage name Chit Chat. His solo live act of original compositions was awarded a jury prize at the Elektronikaldia festival in Donostia-San Sebastian; as a result, a Chit Chat track was included in the festival’s compilation CD, and he was given a headliner gig along with Super Collider in the Kursaal Auditorium, the city’s stunning center for the performing arts overlooking the Cantabrian Sea. After that, Iñaki found himself playing to bigger and bigger crowds, sharing the bill with artists like Front 242, Super Collider, Zombie Nation, David Carreta, Mix-Master Morris, Playd, Claude Young, Steve Stoll, Regis, Manu le Malin, Mark Broom, Alek Star, Fumiya Tanaka, Woman Affair, Gaetek, Sideral, Codec and Flexor, Oscar Mulero, Cristian Wunch, Omar & Undo, Angel Molina, Miss Kittin, Richard Bartz, and many more. Iñaki sought to collaborate with others in order to continue refining his musical vision; he incorporated vocalists, live musicians, video jockeys, dancers, and make-up artists into his act. The Chit Chat Sex Band was born. The first addition was Joan, a scratch DJ who later left the group to pursue his own solo career. Next, Iñaki brought in Erika, a professional make-up artist specializing in fantastic designs who developed her craft working in London’s theatre district. To further enhance the visual aspect of the live show, Jero, a.k.a. Dropezframes, came on-board. A prominent video artist and VJ, Jero creates and controls hypnotic projections in real-time with the music. It was then decided that the act could use a singer, and Sam, a.k.a. Sampler, came into the picture: after four years singing in a grunge band in Austin, Texas, Sam came to Europe to work as a promoter on behalf of American DJ’s. He and Iñaki met through mutual friends, and from the first day they wanted to work together. They soon recorded their first single, Kick Time (A Weapon of Mass Seduction) K-TECH 01. The new formation with Sampler as front-man began to play clubs and festivals around Spain. With several new songs written, the time came to record again, and Iñaki looked to an old friend from his days with 3 Tap, Mikel Salas. Mikel, a multi-talented musician, professor of recording technology in the Pablo Sarasate Conservatory of Pamplona, and renowned composer of film soundtracks for both national and international productions (Romasanta, Sin Nombre, Bagdad Rap), recorded the band in his home studio and contributed guitar, bass, keyboard, percussion, and effects. The result was eight songs that will soon be released as the first LP/CD, Go Team! Currently Iñaki Kreator and Sampler are hard at work writing new material that they will be playing live in upcoming gigs of The Chit Chat Sex Band.
