Inside/Out

INSIDE/OUT are a Trumpet/flugelhorn and guitar-led ensemble playing modern jazz ranging from Standards/American Songbook to contemporary jazz and latin jazz by the likes of Shorter, Brecker and Metheny. The band consists of musicians already established in some of the top big bands and soul bands in the Northwest, just to play what we love to play.We formed up in Jan 2006 after 3 of us (Dave, Martin, John) attended the Glamorgan Jazz Summer School in 2005 and found we a) lived locally and b) had the same taste in music and beer. We recruited Steve and Pat on drums and bass respectively. Both were known to Dave and John. Inside/Out was born when we found that was the only name we could agree upon (or not mutually disagree strongly enough about!). Lesley joined us recently on vocals and we'll be going back into the studio to do some more recording with her at the end of April.We are just as happy playing background “lounge” music at weddings/bar mitzvahs/funerals/corporate do's as doing dedicated jazz gigs and our repertoire is wide enough to cope with these demands.
