Ines was born in Paramaribo, Suriname during a time of violent military upheaval and revolution. Her family, among many others, fled the country in search of better opportunities. Moving to the Netherlands, Ines started primary school and quickly assimilated into the cultural fabric of the country. Yet, growing up she always felt quite different from her peers. “While attending primary school, the Dutch kids had various cultural backgrounds, but I was still too foreign to them.â€
At a young age, Ines accompanied her mother to many classical concerts and performances. It was then she discovered her love for piano. After signing up for a high school concert, the school’s music director quickly took notice of her talents. He encouraged Ines to sing and perform, including her in many productions. “It was great! I was often bullied by the other kids, but once I got on stage, everyone was speechless.â€
Ines’ passion for performing grew intensely. She toured with several bands, traveled the country, and learned the process of tour management and live music. Upon leaving the Netherlands, Ines took on a music internship in New York City. She then enrolled in a Master’s program at Columbia College Chicago, concentrating in music business. Currently, Ines is interning with a record label and independently records her own pop/rock songs.
Living up to the very meaning of her name, pure, Ines’ music is rich in energy, rhythm, and vocal harmony. Gracefully taking on challenges and opportunities, Ines continues to grow as an artist. She strives to create music that is reflective of her diverse cultural background and God-given talents.
