Hot New Singles

About Me

In the tradition of such immortal musical icons as Rockwell, Rick Astley, and Right Said Fred, the Hot New Singles formed in hopes of burning up the charts with sensational velocity before quenching into the smoking cinder of shameful novelty. Unfortunately, singer/guitarist Seth Timbs, the former visionary of Fluid Ounces, bears the pesky burdens of intelligence and talent--two gateway drugs that lead inevitably to inspired and articulate songcraft. So much for the easy money. With no other choice, he enlisted the help of guitarist Tony “Nightclub” Keats (Janie Grey, Spike and Mallets), bass player Tripper Ryder (MoneyPenny, Army of Me), and drummer Kyle Walsh (Janie Grey, Spike and Mallets) to form a nebula of jubilant rock n roll energy. At shows, fans enjoy punky 50s frenzies alongside Stax-grooving ballads, all narrated by the gritty rasp of Timbs‘s voice and the passionate howl of Keats’s guitar. Every lyric is poetry and every note the truth; their songs are all hits in Utopia. The Singles‘ music can be described as throwback, as it bears familiarities akin to the work of some of the most enduring artists of rock music--the Beatles, Elvis Costello, and XTC, for example. So while there is little hope for this hot new band to squeeze out a flashy dud to dazzle at once and embarrass over time, at least they’ll contribute literate, meticulously crafted, and entirely sublime pop gems, one after another in immaculate three minute packages. Oh well, it’s the best they can do.~Arthur Tweedsdale music critic, The Morning Constitutional
