The (Fabulous) Scooters, are Taiwan's premier acapella / doo-wop group, based in Taipei, Taiwan.
The band features sweet voices and cool harmonies that appeal to both local and "ex-pat" audiences.
Formed in the autumn of 2005, The Scooters were originally seven guys from different parts of the world who were brought together by their love of music and united by their desire to sing.
The bands brings to Taiwan the sound of the glory days when teenagers were in love, rock 'n' roll was here to stay, and Mr. Bassman was the hidden king of rock 'n' roll.
The Scooters' sound combines the melodies of pop, the lyrical lightness of jazz, the feel of gospel, and the passion of rhythm 'n' blues.
Naturally you'll hear acapella classics such as The Lion Sleeps Tonight and In the Still of the Night, as well as doo-wop favourites such as Under the Boardwalk and Stand By Me.
But you'll also be treated to The Scooters' unique take on songs such as Wonderful Tonight (Eric Clapton) and Seven Bridges Road (The Eagles) and Don't Worry, Be Happy (Bobby McFerrin).
And, of course, what's an acapella group without a "barbershop" song or two?
The Scooters got their first gig on March 2006. It was an open mic night at a lounge called The Living Room -- a cozy hideaway renowned in the Taipei nightlife scene for promoting live music and new artists. The Scooters were the feature attraction and drew a standing-room only crowd.
This has been followed by other gigs at the same venue.
On Canada Day, 2006, we sang before a crowd of more than 1,000 people at DaAn Forest Park and knocked them dead.
Many said we stole the show from the headliners that night.
The Canadian sponsors of the event said that we "left The Nylons in the dust."
In fact, two girls thought we were The Nylons (too much sun, we expect).
