About Me
Emerging from a fruitful tree in a wooded area is a rare, beautiful creature, with the eyes of a fawn, the wings of a technicolor butterfly, and the moves of a black panther. Her name is Miyon, and she’s captivating, mesmerizing, and multi-talented. She is a presence, a force that demands one’s full attention. Her voice is beautiful, original and truly distinctive, never harsh or heavy. It delivers the message without force. Her sound is “fusion†dance, pop, soul, and jazz; from high-driving dance tunes to sultry ballads, Miyon shines in every tune.
She is the daughter of Franklin Bryant, a bassist for Motown, backing such artists as Stevie Wonder and The Temptations. Her mother was Marie Nelson, a.k.a. “Cold Madina†who was a dancer, and also did work with Motown as a Motown review dancer; she went on to have a career in music, radio and television.
Miyon is deeply involved with every aspect of her career from writing lyrics to co-producing. Her collaborations with others display her ability to communicate, and receive others well. This is apparent in her work. Her collaboration with D J Scott in 1995 on a tune entitled “Over You†was received well in Europe. She teamed up later with Mike Clark, a.k.a. Agent X. He introduced Miyon to the winter music conference, which exposed her to the music circuit of Miami where she began to perform. In her early years she would write with Nicolas Marks of “Members of the House.â€
Miyon has also collaborated with multi-media performance artist Ziam in numerous fashion shows, and also in his most recent work “Liquid Silver,†a performance art spectacular in which she sings, dances and models, dazzling audiences time after time.
Her collaboration with K.A.S. from K.A.S. Serenity featured her as the featured vocalist during engagements at Cee’-bee gee bee’s in New York City.
In her teen years –1985 to the early 1990’s – her talent would be polished, as she participated in Miss Black Michigan pageants, fashion shows and her first appearances on television. She became a regular dancer and personality on “The Scene†one of Detroit’s hottest shows which was received well locally and nationally.
She would go on to host the “Body Shop,†a Detroit based television show, a family venture, seen on Comcast cable. It was also exposed on local and national levels. The show featured local and international acts. The backdrop featured kids dancing and sweating in a prop filled body shop.
In 2005 Miyon teamed up with James Jamerson Jr., the son of the late great Motown bassist James Jamerson. James Jamerson Jr. produced “Keep Me Hanging On†for Miyon which is scheduled to appear on her upcoming album “Silver Shadows.†Miyon continues to value her education by attending Madonna University to obtain a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sign Language interpreting. She is on target to graduate in the summer of 2007. Miyon aspires to become one of the premier sign singers in the world, but must first defy all opposition against this undertaking.
Miyon dreams of bringing more awareness to the hearing impaired and teach people to accept our differences and live in harmony. Her sense of community, family and friends shows her capacity for love and hard work. Her natural style and ability to perform and create displays her individuality. Her sheer display of strength and substance sustains the one we call… “Miyonâ€.
