Like most young aspiring musicians, Javier toured L.A.’s club scene gigging to make a name but unlike most, he was also honing his talents on the opposite side of the mixing board as producer. He has contributed to a wide variety of projects ranging from Hip-Hop and R&B to both Latin Jazz and Contemporary Jazz ensembles, as artist and producer.
His desire and commitment intensified after high school at which time he joined the progressive Hip-Hop/Rock band Proper Grounds, where he doubled as guitarist and contributing songwriter. The band became the first group to be signed to Madonna’s Maverick Records and influenced such bands as KORN, Limp Bizkit, and the Insane Clown Posse (ICP).
Proper Grounds met with moderate success but the hunger for growth remained. Javier channeled his energies into enhancing his natural abilities and returned to school. He attended Cabrillo College in Santa Cruz, CA, where he studied Jazz Improvisation and Classical Music for Guitar and Cello under the famed Ray Brown. While at Cabrillo, Javier also played Lead and rhythm guitar for their Latin Jazz Ensemble, as well as, composed works which have been performed by both unsigned and signed artists alike.
Upon completing the program at Cabrillo College, he transferred to Berklee College of Music, in Boston, Massachusetts. There he studied Film Scoring and Advanced Composition. His experiences there have been invaluable as he attests to such highlights as writing Jazz arrangements for Lin Biviano of the renowned Buddy Rich and Stan Kenton Orchestras. Javier believes such experiences have given him the tools necessary for adapting music from all genres, as well as, visually and lyrically. Javier is a true "Technician Of Emotion".
