I was born in Springfield Illinois, USA in the middle of a REAL BLIZZARD, or so my Mother always told me. Hence my fascination with “The Mysteries of ELEUSIS” Mother and Daughter. I have been recently, initiated into “FERAFERIA”,a non profit Religious and Educational Foundation Incorporated August 2nd 1967, CE Feraferia is a Paradisial Fellowship for the Loving celebration of Wilderness Mysteries ,with FAERIE style, courtly elegance, refinement and grace. FERAFERIA means~~~Wilderness Sacrament~~~ Founders/Creators Frederick McClaren Adams,Lady Svetlana of Nevada City California have been ‘the icing on the cake” in my Life thus far and my greatest mentors.Involved in Classical Oriental Dance; AKA BELLY DANCE since the Eighties, I have found an interesting synthesis of the TWO. FERAFERIA/DANCE They go together like a hand and glove. LOVE, WORK, PLAY in reunion with GREAT NATURE and ourselves have given me a GREAT INSPIRATION to CREATE a VISION of something more BEAUTIFUL than I would ever have thought possible. Selena Kareena is the Director and Founder of “Roots of Rhythm” a North African/Middle Eastern style Dance Troupe; now renamed “LEVANAH”. She is the owner of Ancient Art Studio, located in Placita/Monticello New Mexico USA. American born Third Generation (Spanish,Portugese,English,Slavic),Selena has been dancing for Friends and Family since Childhood. International American/Alsharqi dancer, says about the dance……I believe that there is something Bigger than All of Us that is IN CHARGE, Directing us…Guiding Us…Using THE DANCE …to accomplish something “VERY IMPORTANT”,perhaps Transforming Us All into a truly New Age. THE DANCE has been an Integral part of My Life, an ongoing LOVE that deepens with TIME. Selena has studied under many Masters of The ART . The late Ibrahim Farrah(Bobby), Mahmoud REDA, and Farida Fahmey, Dr Mo Gedawi, Raqia Hassan, Aida Nour,Nagwa Foud, Dina, and many others. Inspiration gained from OLD STYLE dance with Sohair Zeki, ,Mona Said. Selena says that her greatest challenge today as an Artist is “….. to Create Venues for The Dance I Love So Much! There are So many Great Teachers out there and not enough Great Venues…that is why I continue to Produce Events; So that we can present to The Public Beautiful representations of our ART.” -----------------------------------------------------------
