KING KORA

Multikulti Griotorchestra

About Me

In earlier times when kings ruled West Africa, the kora was the instrument which accompanied the royal storytellers. Now that the kings are dead or in early retirement we have decided to sit the kora on the empty throne.... and to let it play with a joyful band of many colours.King Kora is a 10 musician griot orchestra that has been playing over a 150 concerts in Switzerland, Germany, France, and Westafrica in the 8 years since they first met...and they would love to play also in Sweden, Spain, Netherlands, UK, Paleo Festival, Couleur Cafe and many many more. PLEASE! They are more than ready for that!! Most of the you can hear on that page and the two vidoe clips below are from their Gambia River Tour in february 2007.King Kora would like to thank Popkredit der Stadt Zürich, Migros Kulturprozent and Culture and Development, Berne, for their kind support of the CH concerts 2007!And now take a look at GAMBIA RIVER TOUR PART IGAMBIA RIVER TOUR PART II

You can hear talking drums, crying guitars and laughing horns and above all, a music that reflects all the battles and the coming together of musicians from different cultures.
