Konflikt Biography - Story of the band:
One of the most known contemporary bands in middle Europe countries was founded in April 1990 under the name „Azyl“. Songs like „Taki sme“, „No army“, and 'Stroje' were written during this time and appeared on the Azyl Punk Invasion demo in January 1992 for the first time, and later in 1994 on a compilation concert demo. The band was becoming more popular in 1992 after releasing their first album. „Taki Sme” when they changed their name to „Konflikt A“. „Taki Sme” made the band famous and gave them opportunities to appear in the public eye. „Anti Nazi“ showed up on the Czechoslovak rock charts twice, and the band remained on the top of that list for 13 weeks with their other song „Syn ulice“. The song „Preco?“ (about the separation of Czechoslovakia) didn't have such luck on the charts. Right after ranking 3rd the first week it was released, it was censored by the government. In 1995 Konflikt released two new songs from their new album on VTV, but the band neglected any other appearance in the media for years after and remained „underground“. Before 1997 there had been several member changes and the band only played concerts in Slovakia. The next year they began to conquer the clubs in surrounding countries. Konflikt plays in many major cities in Europe where no Slovakian punk band has played before. Now they're the most recognized playing punk band in Slovakia and around Europe. In 1998 the band left out the „A“ from their name so they became just KONFLIKT. The band plays their own hard punk-rock with elements of other styles and genres (Metal,HC,Folk,Ska...). In March 1999, Konflikt released the album „Mea Culpa“ and this album clearly showed and defined their influences. In September 1999 they released a live video tape „Konflikt - Live in Abda“. In February 2000 an EP „To Protect and Serve“ with 6 tracks was released especially for the German market. The same year, Jury released a compilation called „Punk-Rock Made in Europe“ born from the friendship of the starring 23 bands on the album from 15 countries. In November 2001 they released their 3rd album „No Return...“. This album showcased various instruments such as the accordion and traditional Slovak flute but the music remained as often as other bands standing by their motto, “Quality over quantity”. After co-organizing Hungary's biggest punk fest „Új Hullám Fesztivál“ Jury decided to make his own festival called „Punk Island“. In 2004, the group is joined by another guitar player and since this moment, Konflikt plays with two solo guitars! In September 2005 they appeared on STV (Slovak TV) on a late night music show called „METRO“ (the first band ever, playing live hard music on a public TV). They broke the records in TV ratings. In 2006, the band shoots a video to their song „Život Koncí“ – it is a live video from the gig with Exploited. The long awaited fourth album, titled "Sapere Aude - Have Courage to Use Your Own Reason!" came out in May 2006. This record was nominated for the music prize „Aurel“ (Slovak Grammy) in the category „Cover of they year“ and won the award „Best record of the year 2006 in category HARD/HEAVY/PUNK-ROCK! In february 2007 the band starts a small england-tour and shoots new video in London for a song called „Rebel“. In 2008 Duna agency films a documentary about the singer of the band, in which Jury reflects the beginnings of the band and his experiences with Konflikt. Another well known song „Mrtva Planéta 2“ gets its music video in summer 2008 - music festival Top Fest 2008 was a place of the shoot. Konflikt have played here after Slayer in front of a nearly 20.000-crowd.Their tracks can be find on various anthologys around the globe. In 20 years of career, this band has played more than 1000 concerts in Europe on one stage with such names like for example. Slayer,Sex Pistols,Soulfly,Die Toten Hosen,Misfits,Toy Dolls,Cavalera Conspiracy,Nazareth,Alice in Chains,UK Subs,Cradle of Filth,The Exploited,Limp Bizkit,Ska-P,The Offspring ....and keeps on playing every weekend... because „Punk-Rock is their life“ („Punk-Rock je ich život“)!
