Musician/DJ/Producer Anthony Berdecio defines the modern musician/DJ with his talents spread over some of electronic music’s many genre and influences. Working at a young age in his native San Antonio Anthony had played more than 300 live shows, co-scored the indie film “Moves in the Nightâ€, and co-founded the musicians collective, U.M.A. (United Musicians Association) all by the age of 18. Feeling he had reached a creative plateau Anthony emersed himself in the rapidly growing global electronic movement whose rhythms and sonic structures presented a boundless arena for his abilities to grow.
Soon Anthony found himself trading bass licks for turntable science with two of the regions emerging and influential DJ’s, Sista Stroke and Spettro. In the coming years Anthony would be featured on numerous releases by Spettro (www.spettromusic.com) while touring and performing with Sista Stroke (now based out of Chicago) and her collective Lief House Music (pronounced “Life Houseâ€).
Finding an undeniable link between modern electronic music and Jamaican “Dub†Anthony jumped at the opportunity to pick up his bass and tour with I&I Foundation recording artists Buffalo Soldier and Tristan Palmer. This tour took him across the United States twice and finally landed him in the San Francisco Bay Area. Living and giging in the Bay Area offered an opportunity to develop a cutting edge and funky sound which he brought back with him to his native San Antonio.
Once back Anthony began working again with Spettro and hosting his weekly “Truth†at the Cameo Theatre as well as various one offs around the city. Working for Austin based Feedback Magazine Anthony was discovered by Soniquarium label head Eric Ross and has since been released under the production title “The Berdecio & Ross Projectâ€.
Anthony presently lives in San Antonio where he maintains residency at Pulse Saturdays inside The Hotspot. A night dedicated to showcasing the emerging talent and culture making headway in the new South and Central Texas Electronic Music Culture.
