The Key Frames

We're going to need a bit more snarl

About Me

The KEY FRAMES are a Toronto-based country-rock quintet, playing a mix of rootsy originals and souped-up traditional bluegrass numbers. Their energetic and engaging performances have been known to move feet, shake tails, shatter expectations and even break a few hearts. Sometimes all at once.

ROB WEBSTER, on vocals and rhythm guitar, is originally from Delhi, a smallish town in southwestern Ontario, which he escaped from to live in the big city. In his younger days, he played bass for tobacco-rock acts such as Mitchell and Illegal Operation. In a strange ironic twist, he now finds himself in a country-rock band playing in downtown Toronto. As far as we know, he is still the only person ever to fill a scuba tank with Clamato and swim across Lake Erie.
THEO EDMANDS, vocalist and banjoman, is from the fabled town of Woodstock, New York. Armed with his left-handed five-string and his encyclopedic knowledge of all things old-timey, he has played in several New York City bands including Rock Rock Chicken Pox and Flaming Fire. In addition to his musical talents, Theo is also a cartoonist and animator. He once tried to sail to the mouth of the Hudson River on a raft made of milk jugs.
Drummer DAN SCHWARTZ hails from Montreal where he played in alt rock bands The Vee Gates, The Action (featuring Mr. Danny Passion, aka Schmelvis), The Cheatles, and The Free Radicals. Dan came to Toronto in 1995, and has been drumming with alt country bands ever since. In his spare time, Dan is a vocal coach and also runs a website entitled "CBC Variety Programs of Yesteryear."
PATRICK BYRNE adds another voice to the group, as well as the sweet tones of the Fender Telecaster. Originally from an uncharted pirate's isle somewhere in the English Channel, Patrick is inspired primarily by Frankie Valli, the soundtrack to "Grease", and a large aluminum sculpture of Kenny Rogers that he claims can speak French. Recently a Dad for the first time, he's also training his infant son to adjust pedal settings "while he's down there."
Bass player and vocalist RYAN HIGGINS, formerly of The Wives and originally from Halifax, is also sometimes known as 'The Master of Space and Time'. Also a first-time father as of this summer, Ryan's versatile skill set includes the ability to distinguish between a donair, his son, and a glass of pink lemonade from 860 yards. He was recently elected National Keyframe Minister of Foreign Relations by unanimous decision.
