The first three songs on MySpace - "Alright With Me", "Let It Go" and "Love's Got Me Praying" were all voted into the final of the BRITs UK Songwriting Contest 2004/2005. "Alright With Me" and "Let It Go" were both in the final of the RnB section and "Love's Got Me Praying" was in the final of the Pop section.The other song "Mamma" made it to the semi-final in the 2005/2006 contest.For more information, please check out my website -www.catacoustics.co.uk
HERSTORY
1989
Cat Lewis forms Catacoustics.
October 1990
Catacoustics Debut gig at the Mean Fiddler, Harlesden, London.
The Times Group Newspapers : "OFF TO A GOOD START...this band seems to have something for everybody, but at the same time is not without direction."
The band proceed with a four gig a month schedule
playing at The Rock Garden, Covent Garden, The Mean Fiddler, The Powerhaus,
The Moonlight Club, etc.
A&R departments attend every gig - CBS, Chrysalis, Island, Rough
Trade, A&M and others.
1991
The gig listings continue, adding venues such
as The Swan-Fulham, Dingwalls - Camden, The Royal Standard, The Half Moon and
The Spiral Club.
The band are offered free time at the private studio of David Platz
of Bucks Music Publishing.
February 27th - Catacoustics play live on Tim Smith's GLR (Greater London Radio) show and elicit an unheard of response from listeners wanting to know more about the band. DJ - Tommy Vance, currently a presenter on VH-1, was waiting to go on air in a neighboring studio and also gave the band's performance a thumbs up!
Pip Williams (top Producer with Status Quo, Kiki Dee,etc.) hears the show and offers his expertise and money to produce two tracks at Monroe Studios, Holloway Road, London.
May '91 - Catacoustics land a residency at the Moonlight Club, West Hampstead.
August '91 - Singer Justin Hayward, who hit the heights with The Moody Blues, hears the band's demo "I enjoyed it very much. The band obviously has a lot of musical energy and the singer has a wonderfully versatile voice. All the ingredients are there for success, you just have to go after it aggressively."
1992
As a result of the live GLR session, David Rome and business partner Anne-Marie Heighway of Survival Music/Records, take an active interest in the band and are keen to offer a deal. Survival are known primarily for their work with the Scottish folk band Capercallie.
1993
Catacoustics continue to receive interest from record companies, especially from Janice Stokoe and Diana Graham at BMG. The band continue to gig regularly at their favourite venues.
1994
The band take time out to write and record songs for a new demo. Sony Music now head the interest in the band's future.
1995
Cat Lewis
signs a lucrative, long-term Publishing deal with Sony Music Publishing
and Survival Music.
Sony fund Cat's studio upgrade to 'fully-digital'
and include state of the art the recording equipment as well as providing new
instruments.
Over the following years, Cat continues to gig regularly around London and later plays several gigs at The F-Word Club, Kent, supporting artists such as The Waterboys, Michael McGoldrick, JohnJoe Kelly, Tim Edey, Flook, etc.
2003-2007
Cat co-hosts a live music showcase for new bands, every Monday night at Pop (Soho, London) and performs each week with the house band, "Wild".
Cat also gigs regulalry at venues such as The Mint Bar (Camden), Mic Club @ The Telegraph Club (Brixton), Woody's (Westbourne Park) and Fopp Record Store (West End, London).
...Present Day
Since 1996, Cat has owned and run the Multimedia company - G-Sound & Vision Productions , writing and producing music for radio, corporate productions etc. Some of her clients include: Thomson Holidays, Bacardi, Philips, Skanska,the UK Police Force, etc. and designing websites for many other companies.
Cat also recorded and edited all the sound effects and voice-synchronisation on the 2005 animation - "It's A Boy!" starring the voices of Stephen Berkoff, Joe Pasquale, Cannon & Ball, David & Jessica Oyelowo and members of ITV's The Bill.
