SnDnRnR was born in January 2007 when a veteran party animal Melv dragged his old mate Lof out of his exiled retirement. Lof had been a long-time club runner in Coventry since 1972 starting out running a folk club! When there was a spare night Lof would run a warehouse party in the old Butts Refectory (long demolished). The warehouse party was born in Coventry, or would have been if there had been no Gay or Afro-Carribean illegal parties at an earlier juncture. His mate Bear worked in Saudi Arabia and had state of the art sound system for which tapes of the best underground tunes were provided. That same year Lof was running 4 parties a year at youth clubs, churches community centres with a disco and a state of the art psychaedelic light show courtesy of Paul (Beatmaster) Carter. Soon Lof moved on to one off nights in local clubs simply because there was nowhere to hear decent music. The club within a club idea was born in Coventry! The bonus was that in the hippie tradition of those times all the nights were free. Lof is responsible for several spaces being turned into clubs in Coventry including the Domino and Greens the former which became Roma then the first incarnation of Browns and the latter Silvers then Trinitys. He also recommended the building in Hillfields to Tic Toc which is now the Colly. Lof started his DJing career when Pete Hadfield (co-owner of the late De/Construction Records) persuaded him to use some of what Pete described at the time in 1976 "As the biggest record collection he had ever seen". Saturdays at the Downstairs Bar coincided with the 2Tone explosion and the rest is history. U2, The Smiths, Specials, Selecter, UB40, Madness, Dexys, Stranglers, Blur, Gangstaar, Dream Warriors, Desmond Dekkar, Jools Holland, Bo Diddley, Martha and the Vandellas are just a small selection of the artists that played when Lof DJd. A firm supporter of Rock Against Racism, the Anti Nazi League, Green Initiatives, The Terrance Higgins Trust and Amnesty International Lof gave his services free to all these causes. Legendary nights followed at the Wolfe, the Dog and Trumpet, Silvers, Hope and Anchor, Koko, the Tic Toc and too many others to mention. Lof ran the legendary Downbeat with ex Specials Jerry Dammers and Lynval Golding that was voted number 1 clubnight in Mixmag. At the height of the madness Lof was running 14 nights in Coventry that were all packed out. Interviewed by Radio 1 as one of the great club innovators, mentioned for his originality in the NME and described by the late Alexis Corner (the man widely credited as discovering the Rolling Stones)as the best Rhythm and Blues DJ he had seen in years, Lof continued to run specialist music nights at virtually every venue in Coventry until the mid 90s when he was forced to stop club running due to bronchial problems caused by smokey atmospheres. Now with non-smoking happening, and some gentle persuasion from Melv, the old boy is back. The vinyl has been stored away and Cds fill the house (cant face solid state for discos yet) And so it begins again - 4 parties a year again starting on 28 April at the Spencer club in Earlsdon a stones throw from the old Butts Refectory. The Djing will be mediocre, but the music in the tradition of the great eclectic warehouse parties of the past will be burnin'! First night feedback was brilliant, the highlight being assorted 40 year olds pogoing to the Clash and Melv getting so pissed he thanked every girl for coming by kissing them.... and not remembering this the next day. Memories are made of this. Next up the Glasshouse 9 Feb 2008 still for those with a room for life in the home for the incurably groovy.

I'd like to meet:
People with sunshine in their smile, love in their heart, and a righteous indignation that will allow us all to live in harmony on a planet that we will all strive to save...oh and party animals who are bad to the bone.
