About Me
THE PROOF (Tyne & Wear) www.myspace.com/theproof05 the proof come from the strong tradition of British social realism, of the kind embodied in Sixties black and white films by the brooding presence of an Alan Bates or Albert Finney, as their frustrated and, always, Northern characters wrestled with an overpowering sense of misanthropy in a world of scant opportunity and snatched furtive sex. Actually, despite coming from Newcastle, the proof do not sing about any of these things – except perhaps the furtive sex. And they certainly don't consciously hark back to the past in the sepia tones of, say, the Smiths. But, there at the centre of these tightly-wound songs are biting contemporary takes on familiar feelings of being stuck in a small town and desperately needing to find some energy and sense of relief, just to stay alive.:) (Aberdeen) www.mysapce.com/colonopenbracket They're called :( you pronounce that "COLON OPEN BRACKET" from aberdeen, scotland and very pretty! in the last year they've released a split 7" with data panik, toured with get cape wear cape fly and enter shikari, played the download, t in the park and truck festivals, done remixes for forward russia, funeral for a friend and computerman and released a 5 track ep this year they're doing a bunch more touring and going international and releasing an album in the summer!WATERFRONT (Newcastle) www.myspace.com/waterfrontuk With gigs at the Carling Academy both in Islington and Newcastle, sell out performances at the Old George, the Bay Horse, The Bridge Hotel and the opening 'An Evening With...' Waterfront look to be in high tide to make a lasting imprint on the North-East Music Scene. "Another exciting act is a bunch of young upstarts named Waterfront, they perform as if they've been playing together for years. It'll be interesting to see how they develop but go and see them anyway as they put on an emphatic and passionate indie rock show."
