Luis Machuca

Luis Machuca was born in Vina Del Mar, Chile. His childhood was suffused in the joys of sunshine, sand, and the rhythms of South America. When Luis moved to Toronto, Canada as a child, his musical horizons were further broadened by the burgeoning club music of New York, Montreal, and Toronto. He initiated his DJ career at the age of fifteen, spinning a blend of afro, latin, disco, funk, soul, and reggae. By the time Luis arrived in Vancouver in 1991, he was already experimenting with original music production. While developing this musical exploration, he produced events with such celebrated names as Frankie Feliciano, Mateo & Matos, Julius Papp, Miguel Migs, Marques Wyatt, Franck Rogers, Charles Spencer and The Jungle Brothers to name a few. Luis is now engaged in full-scale production of original music. But the sounds of his youth have not been forgotten. Within the swirling and insistent rhythms of Luis’ patented sound, one can still hear it… friskybeat!
