MAVIN BIOGRAPHY
Mavin used to think of words in his mind to freestyle at age 10. As a youth he used to think of a word that came to his mind and he would try and make that word rhyme with another word. He knew that he couldn’t just use words that rhymed together all the time. Mavin thought of something real quick that he could do. In order for Mavin to become better at rapping he decided to rap with friends so he could become better. He used to freestyle in rap cyphers with his brother Gamble and cousin Krisis. When spectators heard Mavin rap they were always eager to hear him rap some more. At family gatherings his relatives were sure to get entertained because Mavin would look at whatever was around and be able to rap about it off the top of his head.
At age 11 Mavin decided to form a gospel rap duo called “Brothers In The Ministry†with his brother Gamble. Mavin stopped rapping in church because the guy that used to write his lyrics left the church. Mavin knew he had a love for hip-hop and had to think of something to do immediately. By age 13 Mavin decided to write his own lyrics. As Mavin recalled “If I had lyrics I didn’t want to forget, I would grab a piece of paper or napkin and start writing until I got home and was able to write the lyrics in my pad.†Mavin developed his song writing skills at age 14 and started to write choruses and verses.
What makes Mavin different from other hip-hop artist is the positive content he uses when writing his songs. He doesn’t use foul language when writing songs. He doesn’t degrade woman, glorify violence or drugs. His words are uplifting and encouraging. He makes music you can relate to and feel in your soul. At age 17 Mavin went out to perform at open mic sessions. He even recalled “A few people came up to me and let me know they liked my music because it is positive.†Be on the lookout and keep your ears open for Mavin. He is a force to be reckoned with.
