A firm foundation…“Ministry is all I’ve ever known…I can’t imagine not serving God,” says songwriter and worship leader Mary Alessi. The daughter of evangelists, Mary grew up traveling across the U.S. and ministering through music alongside her family.“As a child, I knew that Jesus loved me,” recalls Mary. “I’ve never doubted that. My parents made sure we understood the love and grace of God. My mom told me that the secret to leading your children to Jesus is just living what you believe. She said, ‘bottom line is that you walk out your faith because your children model what they see’.”Mom must have been right. Mary and her sisters have remained steadfast in their pursuit of God and today involved in full-time ministry along with their husbands.She and husband Steve sow into the lives of countless teens through Mercy House, a residential program for troubled teenage girls and unwed mothers. Through Mercy House, girls and young women are offered a safe, Christ-centered environment where they receive structure, counseling, emotional support and a chance to continue their education.Mary and Steve pastor Metro Life Worship Center, a growing nondenominational congregation in Miami. And, she has released her second independent album, More, a live recording that features many of her own songs.As a busy wife, mom and music minister, Mary shifts from role to role with ease – or so it seems.
