About Me

The Arizona Animal Welfare League and SPCA (AAWL), Arizona's oldest and largest no-kill shelter, provides adoption, resource and education programs that improve the quality of life for dogs and cats. Founded in 1971, AAWL's priority is to take in adoptable animals from other shelters where they might be euthanized and to care for them until each is adopted into a loving, lifetime home. AAWL's shelter facilities provide a temporary home for nearly 2,000 dogs and cats every year. All of our dogs and cats are vaccinated, spayed or neutered, and microchipped before they go up for adoption. AAWL receives no government funding and is supported solely by donations and private funding. We are located at 30 N. 40th Place in Phoenix, AZ. If you would like to see our lovable dogs and cats that are currently up for adoption, please visit our web site at www.aawl.org and click on adoptable pets. Or you can just stop on by the shelter. We are open Tueday through Friday 11am-7pm, Saturday and Sunday 10am-6pm (we are closed on Mondays). If you are already a proud dog owner and are looking to adopt another, please bring your dog along with you when you come in to look so that we can introduce them to the dog you are interested in taking home. ************************************************************ ************************************ We also have dogs and cats available for adoption at the Maddie's Project Adoption Center at Petco located at 1015 E. Baseline Rd, Gilbert, AZ 85233. Adoptions are available Monday - Saturday from 12 PM - 8 PM and Sunday from 10 AM - 6 PM. Theyre phone number is 480-926-0198. Or you can check out some of our adoptable cats at the Petsmart in the Tempe Marketplace located at 1900 E Rio Salado Pkwy, Tempe, AZ 85281. So stop on by today and meet a new furry friend!
