My three great loves are music, reading, and traveling--in that order. I've been blessed with wonderful family and friends, so any time with them is a good time. My pleasures are simple; I'm content to live the rest of my life with little to no money as long as I have my health, a good book, live music, and new experiences to share with old friends.

Anything with soul...you know it when you hear it. Lots of faves, but my "gods" are Bruce Springsteen, The Clash, The Cure, and Outkast. Eighties music is my soul food. I grew up with hip-hop so I love it in all its shapes and shades. I'm also big on artists who bridge the divide between art and popularity (Kanye West, Bjork, Radiohead, Fiona Apple, Mary J. Blige). I'm all but positive that listening to '70s soul is good for your health. I love all genres and too many musicians and bands to list, but some who deserve more recognition and/or airplay include: Little Brother, DJ Shadow, Ted Leo, Saturday Looks Good to Me, Destroyer, Cymande, Bill Withers, M.I.A., Sufjan Stevens, The Avalanches, Fela Kuti, Band of Horses, Rhymefest, Murs, The New Pornographers, Van Hunt, Neko Case, Keyshia Cole, Mos Def, LCD Soundsystem, Ryan Adams, Caetano Veloso, Cesaria Evora, Bedouin Soundclash, and J Dilla.
