"Hope is that thing inside us that insists, despite all evidence to the contrary, that something better awaits us if we have the courage to reach for it, and work for it, and fight for it." - Barack Obama
"God has a special place for the poor. The poor are where God lives. God is in the slums, in the cardboard boxes where the poor play house. God is where the opportunity is lost and lives are shattered. God is with the mother who has infected her child with a virus that will take both their lives. God is under the rubble in the cries we hear during wartime. God, my friends, is with the poor. And God is with us if we are with them. This is not a burden, this is an adventure. Don’t let anyone tell you it cannot be done. We can be the generation that ends extreme poverty." - Bono in NAACP Acceptance Speech
Si Se Puede!
"The choice in this election is not between regions or religions or genders. It's not about rich versus poor; young versus old; and it is not about black versus white.
It's about the past versus the future.
It's about whether we settle for the same divisions and distractions and drama that passes for politics today, or whether we reach for a politics of common sense, and innovation - a shared sacrifice and shared prosperity.
There are those who will continue to tell us we cannot do this. That we cannot have what we long for. That we are peddling false hopes.
But here's what I know. I know that when people say we can't overcome all the big money and influence in Washington, I think of the elderly woman who sent me a contribution the other day - an envelope that had a money order for $3.01 along with a verse of scripture tucked inside. So don't tell us change isn't possible.
When I hear the cynical talk that blacks and whites and Latinos can't join together and work together, I'm reminded of the Latino brothers and sisters I organized with, and stood with, and fought with side by side for jobs and justice on the streets of Chicago. So don't tell us change can't happen.
When I hear that we'll never overcome the racial divide in our politics, I think about that Republican woman who used to work for Strom Thurmond, who's now devoted to educating inner-city children and who went out onto the streets of South Carolina and knocked on doors for this campaign. Don't tell me we can't change.
Yes we can change.
Yes we can heal this nation.
Yes we can seize our future.
And as we leave this state with a new wind at our backs, and take this journey across the country we love with the message we've carried from the plains of Iowa to the hills of New Hampshire; from the Nevada desert to the South Carolina coast; the same message we had when we were up and when we were down - that out of many, we are one; that while we breathe, we hope; and where we are met with cynicism, and doubt, and those who tell us that we can't, we will respond with that timeless creed that sums up the spirit of a people in three simple words:
Yes. We. Can."
- BARACK OBAMA after winning the South Carolina Primary in a unprecedented landslide, 55% to 27%.
OH YEAH, you asked about ME! I am just a very laid back guy who likes different people, who is caring and friendly and likes to have a good time (movies, concerts, parties, bbqs, road trips etc ect). My interests are DIVERSE. Yes, I am GAY and if you're not mature and adult enough to handle that, move on.
I like breaking stereotypes and transcending barriers. I am not content to be kept within any one group, I like to float in between all of them because I don't see the dividing line, and if I do, I like to break it. To me, there is no dividing line between a straight event and a gay event, a latino thing and a white thing, a bear thing and a twink thing. Labels confine and keep us down. I am just here because MYSPACE remains the place to be, and that is exactly what this is, MYspace!
*********************************************A PRAYER
Show me the suffering of the most miserable; So I will know my people's plight.
Free me to pray for others; For you are present in every person
Help my take responsibility for my own life; So that I can be free at last.
Grant me courage to serve others; For in service there is true life.
Give me honesty and patience; So that the Spirit will be alive among us.
Let the Spirit flourish and grow; so that we will never tire of the struggle.
Let us remeber those who have died for justice; For they have given us life.
Help us love even those who hate us; So we can change the world.
Amen
- Cesar E. Chavez, UFW Founder (1927-1993)
