About Me

Malcolm Guite (Mystery Train) introduces Rob Groves:-Rob Groves is a longstanding member of veteran Cambridge rockers Mystery Train, as well as playing gigs solo, in acoustic duos and with his other outfit The Wranglers . But more than that, he has been a musical educator and inspiration for me and for many other people on the Cambridge music scene. Rob’s passion for Texas Folk has been infectious. It was through Rob that I first heard Guy Clark and Townes Van Zandt, Robert Earl Keen, and Joe Ely. It was Rob who took me to see Steve Earle, and Rob who showed, by his deeply informed commitment to this music that it was more than great entertainment, it was real soul food. Cambridge audiences are wowed by his amazing renditions of The Road Goes on Forever and he has made many of Earle’s songs a staple in Mystery Train’s repertoire. Now at last Rob is letting us have some of his own material. I commend these two great songs to you and ask you to join me in putting the pressure on Rob to give us some more.- Malcolm Guite front man of Mystery Train.
