About Me
Conscience - French Prog Metal Band
THE BAND
Conscience is a metal band that set its musical direction in mid-2001. Conscience has spent a lot of time on stage, thus earning a well-deserved reputation as an engaging and charasmatic band whose live performance can always be counted on. This reputation led them to open for NIGHTWISH at Le Zenith de Paris in front of an audience of 6500, even before the release of their first album.
The band has performed in a series of concerts in various towns throughout France (Paris, Bordeaux, Nancy, Toulouse, Le Mans...) in order to meet a growing audience. In 2005, the band confirmed its promising future. After being invited to perform at one of the most prestigious French metal festivals (known as the RaismesFest alongside Sonata Arctica, Dead Soul Tribe, and Anathema to cite but a few), Conscience shared the stage with Epica at the legendary "Loco" in Paris. Since then, Conscience also shared the stage with the french guitarist Patrick Rondat, the Swedish progressive band A.C.T, the talented British band Arena, and will soon be in Rennes and Paris with the group Riverside.Encouraged by this string of successes, Conscience released its first albulm entitled Half-Sick of Shadows that has had a very strong debut. It was chosen by the national French radio station Le Mouv’ as the “CD of the Weekâ€, it has been "Auto-production of the Month" for a period of three in the "Starter" network of stores (Forum, Cultura...etc), and has been the top selling metal CD for four weeks at a very large music store in Paris. Conscience is currently working on a second album and the shooting of a video clip for the single “Different Gravityâ€.Conscience is composed of Nicolas Duc Dodon (drums and percussions), Matthieu Gerbin (guitar and lead vocals), Hervé Pfeiffer (guitar and vocals), Cyril Stauder (bass and vocals) and Gérald Tanty (keyboard and sampling).
INFLUENCES AND INSPIRATION
The influences of the members are very diverse, but find a common ground in metal progressive, by melting together all types of music and all types of musical construction.
Conscience finds inspiration in the poems of Nicolas Moulard, a young French author who has been living in the United States for some years. His writings determine the composition of the songs of Conscience, notably the moods, atmospheres and emotions which are found within.
Conscience is often compared to Pain of Salvation or Queensrÿche.
