About Me

Easterhouse from Manchester, were during the mid 80’s going to be and should have been massive. The Perry brothers Andy and Ivor played the most inspiring and yet totally beautifully crafted guitar music, like their label mates the Smiths. The band sung about political issues like Ireland and the Labour party, but their song about the miners strike ‘Whistling in the Dark’ which most people would know them by was a classic. Sadly after one LP ‘Contenders’ together Andy and Ivor after one brotherly row too many (sounds familiar) they parted ways. Andy recruited a new band for his 1989 LP ‘Waiting for the Redbird’ which failed to inspired the way the first LP did, still there were some good songs on it, ‘Come out fighting’ the first single from the LP was used for sports programmes in the USA. In 2005 Andy got the band back together for a one off gig with former Smiths bass player Andy Rourke. Well there’s been no news for a while hopefully and there have been rumours that they are writing new songs with a possible LP in the pipeline, well who knows.Well this is my little site to say check them out, they were great and the songs still sound great to me
