About Me

Matthew Yorke
Matthew started playing bass the summer of 1998. Growing up listening to Rush and Queen, then later on, Black Sabbath, Our Lady Peace, Metallica and Rage Against the Machine he quickly developed a musical ear and learned, on his own, as many songs as he could from each band. Right from the beginning, his rhythm and being a perfectionist was maturing.
It wasn..t until the summers of 1999 and 2000 where he attended the Canadian Conservatory..s Summer Rock Program that his taste in music changed. There he met Larry Hall and Pat Riley. Mr. Hall taught him about playing the bass, and Mr. Riley showed the many other genres of bass playing that are out there, particularly, Funk.
Over the next few years, Matthew..s musical library expanded substantially. Now, he can pretty much listen to, enjoy and play any genre of music thrown at him.
Matthew was formally the bass player for the Halifax based band, Faded Blue. He contributed to their song writing process in a positive and creative manner and can be heard on their CD, The Blue Mountain Gate.
