Dave Holley

About Me

Dave Holley is a musician originally from Somerset who moved to the Hull area in the early eighties. In the late seventies he hit the road with The Kelvin Henderson Band, a country band that rocked through Britain and Europe (ratty old transit vans permitting). With Kelvin he played as part of the house band on the HTV series "County Comes West". At the time playing guitar, pedal steel, dobro and mandolin. Below films from the Brighton and first Peterborough Festival He moved to Hull to join the Tammy Cline Band. With that band he did many tele gigs working throughout Britain, Europe and Nashville. In the latter eighties gigs were as diverse as dinner dance bass gigs, dep. club gigs as well as working in various cover bands. After a lay off in the mid-nineties he's back playing. Recently with a nine piece soul band and electric blues band, and lately playing and singing acoustically solo and with other local acoustic artists. These include Paul Harrison an old friend and great ragtime/blues picker, Andy Keeble (a Dylan fanatic with a great stage presence). Andy asked Dave to play and record his songs on his myspace site. Just follow the link in friends and listen to some fine crafted songs. Dave played electric guitar on Val Marshalls' first cd If I Had MyTime Again. He has also been accompanying her on live dates. Most recently he has worked with Keep It Ca$h when the infamous Ted Key is otherwise committed. They are a fine bunch of musos who do a great tribute to the man in black, When you hear Dave Burnham/Cash sing its quite eirie. AND they did shoot a man on Spring Bank just to eat his chips! Most recently Dave is the official "dep" for the country rock outfit The Fork Handles. Covering for Gary Gillyat on guitar, Pete Smith on bass and Al Kilvington (great piano player) on guitar/pedal steel and dobro. He only has to dep for Duncan Wood on drums for the set! They do a regular Thursday night at the Railway in Cottingham near Hull. He still works regularly playing guitar/dobro with Val Marshall on live dates and can be heard playing pedal steel, dobro, electric slide, and straight electric guitar on her new cd Loves Ghost. When he gets a chance he records and uploads new songs onto his myspace site. Recently he has played drums with the Fork Handles! On a social night out and with the aid of about four pints of Timothy Taylor he got up and played drums on a song whilst Duncan Wood fronted on vocals and tamborine. A most enjoyable experience.
