KUKUMA

KUKUMA is the result of joinning musicians near the traditional music from the Basque Country but upcoming from diferent sides of it.The first result of their work took place on the spring of 2004 by the hand of ELKAR, their debut album was KUKUMA, a colourist disk that joinned the traditional instrumentarium from the Basque Country (Trikitixa - Diatonic acordion - , Alboka - Double reed clarinet - , txalaparta,...) with strings like Bouzuqui and ethnic percussions. The result was great. The deep colours of the celtic music, the balcan beat, african rithms or south american lirism joined and saw from the Basque Country´s singular way of doing music.KUKUMA represent a meeting point, a colourist way of feeling the own roots and enriching them with other culturs in the world.Now, in the first part of 2007, KUKUMA is working on their second work, after 3 years of concerts and European festivals like Ortigueira, Getxo, Cuellar, Galdames ... and more other concert places or theaters, the time is up, and the band is now thinking on more colourist music feelings.Soon we are back!
