Paul Langille took to the stage at a very young age, singing and playing guitar in dance halls, service clubs, and numerous other venues in and around his hometown of Hamilton, Ontario. During this time, Paul learned the basics of performance and stage work .. and he developed a keen understanding of what entertaining was about.
As he matured, Paul began branching out into other forms of music, such as Blues, R&B, Rock & Roll and Acoustic Folk music. Then, in the early Seventies, Paul moved to London, Ontario Canada, focusing his energies on solo performance. For the next ten years he successfully toured coffeehouses and university and college concerts throughout Canada and the United States. Paul received rave reviews for his work with The New York Coffee House Circuit, an agency based in New York City that booked university and college campuses throughout the USA.
In the late Seventies, Paul decided he needed a change from solo performing so he enlisted the help of his friend Terry Lee and together they formed the Lee~Langille Band. With an assortment of standard blues, R&B and originals the band toured Canada, performing for packed houses wherever they went. Critics likened the band to a cross between Little Feat and the Allman Brothers Band.
Following six highly successful years with the Lee~Langille Band, Paul went into the studio with Kenny Marco and former members of Blood, Sweat & Tears to record a solo album. This album was well received and opened doors to other musical paths.
After the release of the album, Paul auditioned for a Labatt Blue beer commercial. He passed the audition and got the job to record what was to become one of the highest profile commercials in Canada. It also made quite an impact on the US markets. In recognition of this, Paul was honoured with the prestigious AMPAC (Advertising Music Producers Association of Canada) award for 1986.
In 1987, Paul re-established himself with the University/College Circuit in Canada, travelling and performing across Canada. During this time, Paul was nominated for the Top Contemporary Artist of the Year, 1988.
Throughout the early Nineties and into this new millennium, Paul was actively involved in many musical projects including studio, solo, band, and orchestral work. In 2000, he released the powerful and evocative CD ..Life After December.. followed in the summer of 2001 by ..Same Way... Different... Each of these albums showcase a different facet of this immensely talented performer: one highlights the creative, studied, powerful musician/vocalist/songwriter while the other displays quite clearly the refined, polished, yet approachable live performer.
In late 2001, Paul was also involved in the collaborative recording/performance ..Tears of a Thousand Years.. which raised funds for the relief effort in New York following the events of September 11th.
These days a musician and artist must utilize all the voices available to him. Paul has many voices, all emanating from the heart and soul. These are Paul's strongest attributes ... strong voice, instrumental work and song writing coupled with an honest passion for his music.
Have a listen, experience the passion, and take it home.
