About Me

COME JOIN US FOR SOME SCARY FUN! EVERYONE WELCOME, BUT DRESS UP LAME ASS!The boys from Wales will be coming into town to play some rugby on May 24th. We will be having a party for them at Jack Patricks that night starting at 8:30 so everyone come on down. Be sure to come out for the game Saturday in Creve Coeur Park at 2:00p.m. It is sure to be a great time. The Rambler Rugby Club was founded in 1933. However, the story begins a few years before. Harry Langenberg, was born and raised in St. Louis and attended Princeton University. While there, Harry was introduced to Rugby, becoming a very good player and an avid promoter of the game. After his graduation from Princeton in 1931, Harry moved back to St. Louis and became a securities broker and economic analyst. Though his passion for amature athletics never died. In 1933, Harry along with Edmond St. John Hoogewerf, a St. Louis University professor from England, and Hugo Walther, a young lawyer and recent Yale graduate formed the Missouri Rugby Football Union in an effort to promote Rugby throughout the St. Louis Area. The Ramblers were the first club to be organized under MRFU, also in 1993. The Ramblers first match was played at Forest Park in the Spring of 1934 verse a Chicago-based team comprised mostly of English Immigrants The Ramblers are the second oldest active Rugby club in the U.S., with only the New York Rugby Club (founded in 1929) being older. We have established many traditions throughout the years one of which is our uniform. We have maintained the same kit for all sixty-five years. It consists of green socks, white shorts and a green and white hoops jersey. Our team crest rests on the left chest. The crest is the bust of a red ram with a crown above. The crown represents the city of St. Louis, named after King Louis XIV.Team success has also so been an important part of the Rambler history. We have won our fare share of local tournaments in 7's, 10's and 15's. In '90 and '91 the Ramblers won the Missouri Rugby Football Union Championship. Over the past few years we have made it back to the DII Western Championships including a return in Spring '07.mspmb allowScriptAccess="never" enableJSURL="false" enableHREF="false" saveEmbedTags="true" src="http://lads.myspace.com/slides/photoslider.swf?u=149613 401" ..........................type="application/x-shockwave-flas h" width="445" height="230"
