"Those who understand or believe will be persecuted and ridiculed." Ancient Egyptian Proverb______________" "See that prosperity elate not thine heart above measure;neither depress thine mind unto the depths, because fortune beareth hard against thee. Their smiles are not stable, therefore build not thy confidence upon them; their frowns endureth not forever, therefore, let hope teach patience." Ancient Egyptian Proverb_____________
" When the students are ready the master will appear." Ancient Egyptian Proverb__________________________________
Our youth are in a state of emergency. They validate themselves by being hard. Deviant behavior is glorified in the mass media. On top of the fact that child welfare laws often lead to counterproduction. Parents are scared to discipline their own kids for fear of being hot lined. If a parent is hotlined they may never be allowed to have unsupervised visits with their kids. If a child is out of control; parents and teachers must use more discretion in disciplining their own kids than the police. Now kids are able to buy assault rifles at gun shows. It was reported that some youth pulled an assault rifle on the police. Our youth naively walk into death traps, stand on corners, sell dope, buy flambouyant cars that holler for the police to pull them over as they drive the streets in the middle of day when most are at work. Teachers are underappreciated, under payed and cursed out on a regular bases. We have forgotten our history. After the Civil War, Blacks had to compete for themselves in a fierce, competitive world. They went through great pains to learn how to read. In Missouri's Black Heritage Dr. Lorenzo J Greene of Lincoln University in Jefferson City MO states that the efforts of Black people to educate themselves in school were met by fire in Fulton Missouri 1867. White youth burned a black school down. People dont want to take reponsibility for themselves; it is easier to focus on what someone else is or is not doing as opposed to taking personal responsibility in respect to what you can be doing to help the given situation. The cycle of reenslavement is taking place before the very eyes of the people. Students think its cute to be expelled from school. African Americans who are disproportionately placed in Special Ed and BD classes are at risk of growing up to act out their lables. The Justice Policy Institute was given a report that Afican American and Latino kids were more likely to be tried as adults than white youth. This is an example of institutionalized racism and our youth are in the dark. We are products of our environment, 30 to 40% of minority youth live in poverty, at no fault of their own. With that being the case, opportunity is limited. Many grow up in single family homes, and do not have adequate role models. Our youth with their backs against the wall turn to the streets for valedation. Our culture is survival of the fittest, immediate gratification, do what you must to get what you want right now. Blindly, they walk into traps of immediate gratification, caught up in the crimnal justice system. Recycled not rehabilitated, once in, you are forever haunted by the fact you are a felon

Missouri was the last slave state. Blacks would wait until winter when the Missouri River would freeze then they would walk over the river to Kansas. Kansas was ruled by popular sovereignty, which meant if you wanted to own slaves you could. Kansas was by no means a complete haven for runaways, because there was always the threat of being captured and returned to bondage. Howver you had a the opportunity for freedom.Civil War battles were fought and tore through the souls of those that dwelled in this area. There were the Border Ruffians, The Jayhawks, William Quantrill, Jesse James and Bloody Bill Anderson riding through Missouri towns with scalps dangling on strings attatched to saddles.
Yet Blacks were able to settle in Westport Missouri and own property. When it was here, I was able to see the hanging tree. In the basement of Kelly's Bar they held slave auctions. There were tunnels that ran underground for the free. For blacks there were 3 institutions Penn Elementary School, attended by jazz great Charlie Parker, ST Lukes AME, and ST. James Baptist Church.
"Her name is Health she is the daughter of Exercise, who begot her on Temperance. the rose blusheth on her cheeks, the sweetness of the morning breatheth from her lips, joy tempered with innocense and modesty, sparkleth in her eyes and from the cheerfulness of her heart she singeth as she walketh," Ancient Egyptian Proverb..
