About Me
Kenny Ground, class 1982, discovered his feeling for the record player at the age of 14. During that time, his attention was turned to the Hip Hop style that he would put aside little time after discovering House music. The love for that style grew with time and even if his passion was limited to little domestic performance that helped him to create a personal knowledge of the role of dj that he still brings in any of his musical performance.
Little time after begging this path, he met Luca ‘Mr. Sky’, a friend that shares the same passion with whom he creates a first idea of house movement called ‘Sound Better Music Club’. The name was inspired by a famous disc that back at that time reflected exactly their idea of Club-House. Kenny Ground & Mr. Sky began to promote their performance of ‘Sound Better Music Club’ in various bars and in small local parties collecting that little success that was enough to persuade them of their music talent in House music.
In 2001 Kenny Ground decided to recreate a first concept of record studio called ‘Ground Control’, the idea become reality, the contacts increase and the production starts. In the same year Kenny earned a well-known success in the small region and some months after he met Marti (alias ‘Dj Marti Dee’) on the occasion of a meeting at radio station ‘Radio Studio Star’. Uniting their connections they decided to carry on ‘Ground Control’ together, where they started a musical journey that since four years sees them involved with the regional house music scene..and not only. They managed to participate to prominent events like Motion, Street Parade, Mainstation, etc. they also become regular guest at Xtra Club in Lloret de Mar, Spain. Besides this project Kenny and Marti get the chance to run a radio program dedicated to house music and broadcast on Radio RTO, and therefore is born HOUSE SESSION, a program that is aired weekly since more than three years.
Thanks to his skill, Kenny’s presence is requested also in local radio, in some radio of North Italy and some in the Swiss German region. In 2004 came the possibility to move into a commercial space more suitable to their need, where they created a new record studio inside the building of ‘Deejay Factory’, called like this for the very new shop for djs opened by Kenny Ground and Jimmy Hold.
The years pass and the name of Kenny Ground became a guarantee of success for the house party in Ticino (Italian canton of Switzerland). His appearance has delighted all the Ticino’s clubs being the only dj to have reached the threshold of 200 evening performances per year. All this thanks to all the people that still today follow assiduously any of his performances. In 2005 one of the dreams of this young artist is realized, the opening of STUDIO 54, a club in the center of Bellinzona. The name has not been chosen by chance but with an evident allusion to the famous club in New York in which in the seventies the dance music begins to spread. Kenny’s global knowledge at a musical level creates a meeting place that satisfies all the musical preferences of the young people in the area. This highlights the skills of this DJ to understand what is needed on the inside of the nightlife in Ticino.
The success in the sphere of dj's is completed by the good functioning of the recording studio ‘Ground Control’ where there have been recorded several productions that are part of his big repertoire. Also, the studio has taken part to other music productions in which Kenny carries out the technical part of the project. This aspect shows another side of this 360 degrees artist.
In 2006 a new path starts inside the already famous ‘Enjoy Entertainment’ of Michael Lämmler, society born to satisfy the musical entertainment in all its forms. Today ‘Enjoy Productions’ can boast to be the biggest entertainment business in the local nightlife.
Enjoy Productions is mother of great projects such as ‘Love Generation’, ‘Castle of Love’, ‘Tarantella’, ‘2Shé Club’ and many more, where Kenny has taken part at full time in both the development and the artistic aspects.
The path continues when at the end of 2006 Kenny takes part in the creation of a new club in Ticino, ‘La Fabrique’. At the moment he plays as resident dj and ‘Enjoy’ takes care of the artistic direction detaining the exclusivity of big Swiss and Italian brands as the exclusivity of many other Swiss artists of the sector.
Dj Kenny Ground remains still in 2007 an important symbol of the local House scene where he takes part to all the best summer events in the area and plays on the Lovemobile ‘We love House’ at the Street Parade in Zurich.
Besides all this he can boast to have been the only Swiss dj to play on the very famous beach ‘Papeete’ in Milano Marittima (Italy).
