Bristol based producer Phaeleh has been making music for as long as he can remember. It was when introduced to an old version of Cubasis in 1999 that Phaeleh put down the guitars and started dabbling with electronic music.
A few years later and Phaeleh was keeping the heavy sounds of DnB, Jungle and Breaks exclusively for live sets and using his studio output for more chilled electronica under the moniker of ‘Preston’, releasing a collection of music from 2002 to 2007 on the album “Aespatia†on Boltfish recordings.
It was in 2006 though, that Phaeleh was first introduced to Dubstep, which stemmed a new love of bass. This was when the decision was made to combine the techniques and experience of his diverse live sets with the down tempo sounds of his electronica output, resulting in the start of ‘Phaeleh’.
The distinct sound of Phaeleh fuses the dark and heavy sounds of Dubstep and Drum and Bass with the melodies and soundscapes of Electronica, all sealed together with the subtle textures of acousmatic music.
A diverse range of influences results in an equally diverse musical output which can range from disturbing bass lines and heavy Dubstep/Jungle beats, perfect for the rave, to the more soulful, restrained tracks incorporating a variety of sound sources and vocal styles.
Phaeleh has played nights such as Yardcore (London), Dissident (Bristol) and Square Roots (Brighton) and his tunes have been dropped on IllFM, SubFM and Radio 1.
In 2008 he started the Dubstep/Breaks/Hip-Hop label, Urban Scrumping Records and continues to gig regularly across the UK...
