BIOGRAFIA MUSICAL EN ESPAÑOL
Well, time to say something about me. I was born in Ancud (1973), a small town in an island in a lovely country named Chile. I grew up as a happy, curious and innocent kid, with no major exposition to making music. When I was 10, I started trying to play clarinet in a firemen band, without big success. It could be because clarinet was not cool enough, or because I was not cool enough. But saxophone was a really cool instrument! I started exploring sax and music by myself at age of 14, and then I discovered jazz fusion (Chick, Ponty, Weather Report and all that stuff). Whereas I was attending to the university I discovered the bop of the elders. I took some lessons with Monchi Romero and Marcos Aldana, two proficient Chilean jazz musicians not interested in My Space. Roberto and Mario Lecaros also thought me big things about being a musician. On these days, I played gigs at different places from Santiago to Ancud, with people like Charly Silva, Roberto Lecaros family and Marlon Romero among others. In 1999 I moved to Barcelona, Spain, where I lived and studied pharmacology. There, I meditated about the diversity of people, music and ideas, played sporadically in jams and took lessons and talked largely with Horacio Fumero. Back in Chile I started playing some ..happy swing.. gigs in the south of Chile with Nano Wohlwend Quartet, but in 2006 I suddenly felt the absolute need of play my personal music. As a consequence, last year I recorded the album ROUTE 5 (SUR), with a bunch of good friends. This year 2008, I embraced my fusion roots, and started a funny project called GRIS ELECTRICO, which is just power...the album is comming... CONTACT & INFO: [email protected]
