Die vierköpfige Alternative-Emocore Band Cocoon aus Köln / Bonn, gründete sich Ende des Jahres 2006. Die Bilanz für das erste Jahr: Über 20 regionale und überregionale Konzerte, eine Deutschlandtour, eine ausverkaufte Erstauflage der Debüt EP und eine ständig wachsende Fanbase. Noch vor ihrem ersten Gig im Januar 2007 nahmen Cocoon ihre erste CD „Unleash Your Tomorrow“ im Soundsolution1 Studio in Oberlahr auf. Die EP enthält sechs Tracks, die sich musikalisch im Rahmen von Screamo-, Hardcore, Metal und Alternative bewegen und Einflüsse von Bands wie „Story Of The Year“, „A Day To Remember“ und „Atreyu“ heraus klingen lassen. Der Song „I’m Alive“ wurde auf dem S-U-M-O Sampler Vol. 03 im Jahr 2007 veröffentlicht. Die Presseresonanzen auf das Debüt waren durchweg positiv, unter anderem wurde „Unleash Your Tomorrow“ von Hardkern als "sehr gutes Erstlingswerk" beurteilt, das der Band "einige Türen öffnen" könnte. Hardkern sollte Recht behalten…. Inzwischen können Cocoon nicht nur lokal, sondern in ganz Deutschland auf wachsende Fangemeinden blicken. Gerade im Internetportal Myspace haben sich Cocoon als eine stark frequentierte Band ihres Genres etabliert: Mit weit mehr als 1000 Hits pro Woche schaffen die Vier es immer wieder in die Top-Ten Hitlisten ihrer Kategorien. Weiterhin gingen einige der „Unleash Your Tomorrow“ Songs verbunden mit Interviews bei Radiosendern wie Fritzradio RBB Berlin-Brandenburg, Stadtradio Göttingen und Planet Radio Hessen auf Sendung. Cocoon live mit anderen Bands zu vergleichen ist nicht einfach, da die Jungs eine seltene Härte und Dynamik auf der Bühne zeigen. Die energiegeladene Show der Vier lässt keine Wünsche offen und keinen Moshpit leer. Nicht umsonst spielten Cocoon Support-Shows für „Willshrey“, „Maintain“, „Angelreich“, „Highfly“, „Philiae“, „Maddsen“ und „Wir sind Helden“. Neben fliegenden Gitarren und Beat-Down-Moves auf der Bühne, verstehen es Cocoon, das Publikum mit sich zu ziehen und es bis zum letzten Song zu fesseln. Anfang August 2008 veröffentlichten Cocoon ihren ersten Longplayer „This Is Freedom“, welchen sie auf ihrer zweiwöchigen Club-Tour präsentieren werden. Der auf der Platte enthaltene Song „Unleash Tomorrow“ wird auch auf dem Allcore-Sampler 2008 vertreten sein. Im Anschluss daran soll neben weiteren Konzerten im Bundesgebiet und Umgebung vor allem die Suche nach einem Label-Partner beginnen.

The four member Alternative-Emocore band Cocoon from the Cologne/Bonn area was founded at the end of 2006. The balance for the first year was over 20 regional and supra-regional concerts, a Germany tour, a sold out first edition of their EP and a steadily growing fanbase. Even before their first gig in January 2007 Cocoon had recorded their first CD "Unleash Your Tomorrow" in the Soundsolution1 studio in Oberlahr (GER). The EP consists of six tracks which tend in the musical directions of Screamo, Hardcore, Metal and Alternative and whose sound is influenced by such bands as "Story Of The Year“, “A Day to Remember" and "Atreyu". The Song “I’m Alive” was also released on the 2007 S-U-M-O Sampler. The press response to their debut were thoroughly positive: Amongst others "Unleash Your Tomorrow" was judged by "Hardkern" Music Magazine as "a very good debut work", which should "open some doors for the band". "Hardkern" has been proved right… In the meantime Cocoon can look at not only a local but a fast-growing national fan base throughout Germany. Currently Cocoon have established themselves in the Internet Portal Myspace as a very frequently visited group in their genre. With way more than 1000 hits per week the four have managed to remain in the Top Ten on the hit lists of their category. Furthermore some the "Unleash Your Tomorrow" tracks have been aired with interviews on radio stations such as Fritz Radio RBB Berlin-Brandenburg and Planet Radio Hessen. To compare Cocoon live with other bands is not so easy, since the youngsters reveal a rare hardness and dynamism on stage. The energy-loaded show leaves nothing to be desired and no mosh pit empty. It is not without reason that Cocoon have played support shows for "Maintain", "Angelreich" and "Philiae". Apart from flying guitars and beat down moves on stage, Cocoon know exactly how to carry their audience with them and to keep them engaged to the last song. In August they released their debut longplay album “This Is Freedom”, which they presented throughout Germany and Austria in a two weeks club tour. The Song “Unleash Tomorrow” can also be heard on the German Core Sampler by Allcore Records. Beyond that Cocoon would like to play clubs and stages throughout Germany every weekend the whole year long. And the search for a label partner will begin, now that they have completed their new album.
