Ranging from sparse electro-acoustic to full band arrangements, Broken Buttons' sound is casually inconsistent, lounging somewhere between Folk Rock and Indie Pop. Since the beginning, Broken Buttons grew from a love of artists including Dinosaur Jr, Sonic Youth and Red House Painters and have Since progressed to a stripped down semi-confessional style, more comparable to artists such as Bright Eyes and Arab Strap.
Broken Buttons began in 2005 under the mostly grey skies of Sunderland, UK. The project started life as primitive tape recordings whose revolving cast used low key, high volume indie rock to block out the sound of passing cars.
The confidence of time manifested itself in progressively stripped down instrumentation and a focus on songwriting and melody, transforming into a less than intentional sound with a far more honest and natural approach. Broken Buttons currently Live and Work in Washington, UK.
