About Me

BIOGRAPHY

After some requests about a detaileld bio ...
Nikos was born in 1986 in Loutraki (a small city 80 kilometers away from Athens). While growing up he began loving music as time kept passing by. Eventually he began drumming (let's say so! LOL) at the age of mid-15. His teacher was Yiannis Stayropoulos (drummer of Nukleus-Trio at the moment) who was helping the munipalicity of Loutraki in creating a Music Arts Section (mostly for Jazz since there had been some advanced players) to upgrade the musical infrastructure. By the way, Yiannis is a great musician and arranger (not only a drummer) so he formed classes for other musical instruments too. Until his 16, Nikos was attending these classes. Then Yiannis had to stay in Athens in MMS (Modern Music School). So he followed him there for a year.
He used to travel there everytime he had a lesson :P Hehe! Next year he didn't subscribe in MMS because he had to attend his Mid-Level studies in Loutraki on Computers and Networking and he couldn't be absent from that one. So he kept drumming for his self. The next year had to be a busy one.
Completing my studies on Computers and Networking, he decided to study his second love after computers. Soung Recording and Engineering. He moved up to Athens, he attended lessons with Yiannis Stayropoulos in MMS, he subscribed in IEK AKMI as a Sound Engineer and he worked in an internet cafe, (in which he built the whole network with some friends of his from InSolutions), named Odyssey Lan Arena. By doing this he was in luck and was hired from InSolutions to be a partial partner and help them with some issues that they couldn't manage since they had a lot of work but not enough people to work on everything! This unfortunately made him have so little time that he had to quit MMS or else he would never sleep!
In all this he had a band with some guys from IEK AKMI but he quited that one too because he had to travel about 1 hour to go to the studio! And time was vital for him!
Now he is a member of a band that was recently formed. Hopefully the first live appearances will soon take place.
If you noticed he didn't say anything about musical studies because he has done none. All he has learned about music is by himself, some books and of course from his teacher in IEK AKMI, Mr. Mpouziotis.
2 years after he moved in Athens he completed his studies in IEK AKMI as a Sound Engineer. His final project was also included in a demostration 5.1 DVD-Audio with the best projects of the year in IEK AKMI. Now, he attends the Bachelor Course in IEK AKMI that is held by Preston University, and it goes really smooth..
Also he uses his Home Studio for recording/producing purposes and for sound designing. Soon a list with some of the projects will follow up. Anyone who is interested in recording/producing something can contact him.
He uses a M-Audio Keystation 49e Keyboard, a UC-33e Midi Controller, Nuendo 3 on both laptop/desktop pc, Wavelab under special circumstances, and a MOTU 8pre to bring the sound to the near-field active monitors, KRK RP6. He also uses a Behringer Eurorack UB1832FX-Pro Mixer but now it only serves for mixing purposes and rehearsing.. The mics he uses is a drumset microphone package from AKG, called the "t.bones". 7 mics, 5 cardioid dynamic mics with small diaphragm CD-56Beta for the drums, 1 cardioid dynamic mic with large diaphragm BD-25Beta (for bass drum), and 2 condenser mics EM-81 as overheads. However they have nice sound on other instruments too.. So he uses them for now :D
If someone wants to know more about him, he or she can add his MSN contact too.. :)
