About Me
DJing since tender age of 14yo, Soundhustla was inspired to become a DJ when introduced to the Sydney rave scene in the mid-90’s. He cut his teeth DJing accepting any gig that was offered to him, something in which he firmly believes is important in order for a budding DJ to hone their skills. He then went on to DJ for weekly breakdance classes at Kangaroo St Community Centre at Manly on Sydney’s Northern Beaches and has also promoted his own successful hip hop night “B-Sidesâ€.Fast forward to today and he has held down residencies at some of Sydney’s premiere clubs such as Ruby Rabbit (voted club of the year for 2 years running whilst in residency) / De Nom, Chinese Laundry, The Argyle, World Bar, Good Bar, Bungalow 8, The Burdekin, Opera Bar and latest additions; Crystal Bar, Shore Club, Ravesis and Bondi Social.Working at The Record Store (considered by many as Sydney’s first stop for dj vinyl supplies) he keeps his finger on the pulse of what’s fresh and what’s next. Pioneering the mash up genre of music in the Sydney club scene, Soundhustla’s diverse style incorporates everything from turntablism, hip hop / funk to electro house & breaks and most recently, fidget house. Rock up at one of his gigs and you’re likely to find him mix it up even further with frequent collaborations with other musicians such as a saxophonist / flutist, drummer, percussionist and an MC.Soundhuslta has laid down cuts on Hook & Sling’s first release, the “Number Cruncher†EP, (Hussle n Bussle).
