Having worked with nearly all of Trinidad and Tobago’s top gospel artistes as a backup singer, including the brother-and-sister duo Ceejay & Luckey and The Love Circle, Russell has taken front stage on his debut project, ‘Culture of Love.’
Singing background vocals for many years with many artistes including sharing the stage with international Gospel recording artist Deitrick Haddon at the annual Pilgrimage, “I felt it was time to bring my brand of gospel music to the forefront†says Russell.
With the album currently in production and many of the tracks penned by Russell himself, the disc boasts 12 new songs with 1 bonus track. Working on the album is award winning producer/songwriter/arranger Cleon Richardson and singer/songwriter/arranger Keith Kirk.
Undoubtedly, his sound has raised the curiosity of the local industry for its international sound and has attracted telecommunications phone company bmobile. Russell has since contributed jingles for bmobile, Cable & Wireless, Delta Petrolium and i95.5FM along with some other notable companies.
In November of 2006 Russell placed second in the local gospel competition in the south of Trinidad also collecting the prize for Most Spirit Filled Song ‘Unchanging’ (written by Russell) placed first. Altogether his main focus is bringing young people to Christ. Russell is an anointed worship leader and vocalist which is apparent in his live performances. He commands the stage and ushers his listeners into a spirit of worship.
