Terry Artis

Terry Artis was born in Stantonsburg, North Carolina. He was raised by a single mother,and his grandmother. Terry grew up listening to his grandmother's favorite singers like Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Donny Hathaway, and The Temptations. Stevie Wonder became one of Terry's idols. Terry started singing at the age of 6, and by the time he was 16 he knew in his heart that he wanted to be a sucessful performing artist. He started performing all over at local talent shows, birthday parties, and weddings. When he turned 19 he to moved to New York City to pursue his music career.With very little money and a bus ticket ,Terry knew that there was no turning back. He was driven by determination, faith, and a passion to succeed. While in New York, Terry tried out for the 2003 and 2004 American Idol. Unfortunately he did not make it to Hollywood but it was a great experience that made him stronger and more determined. While living in New York Terry has performed at various open mic shows and showcases. In 2004, Terry met the legendary Roberta Flack which gave him some advice about believing in himself, having faith and never give up on his dream. He was very thankful for the advice which helped him to become a better Songwriter,as well as an Artist. Terry has a very unique style and look that compliments his soulful voice.
