My name is Shelby Hulett. I’m seventeen. I live in a town in Texas that you've never heard of, unless you live here too.
I started playing piano like ten years ago. To be honest, I don't play piano as much as I should anymore; my focus has kind of shifted to saxophone because high school band is one big party that never stops. I play in wind ensemble, jazz band, a sax quartet, and whatever else I feel like doing. I also teach sectionals in the fall. It's really fun, and I love it.
Apparently it's impressive that I play other instruments too, blah blah blah. Piano, organ, guitar, saxophones, mandolin, violin, bass clarinet, drums. I'm terrible at Rock Band and Guitar Hero, which is what really matters.
Music doesn't consume my life as much as it seems. Just like any other teenage girl, my ultimate goal in life is to have John Mayer's children. My recent favorite hobby is running long distance. I also keep busy with stuff like Zonta and Schools for Schools (a part of Invisible Children). I used to want to spend my life only playing music, but then I realized that I like math and science too much to limit myself to one thing. I'm planning on attending the University of Texas at Austin with a major in Engineering Route to Business. After that, I'd love to get my MBA or a Master's in Engineering. That was a huge euphemism for: "I actually don't have a clue what I'm going to do, so I'll just go to school until I figure it out."
