YOLANDA MARTINEZ, is a Native American Apache/Hispanic Singer, Song Writer, Performer, Recording Artist from So New Mexico.
Her Musical roots go back to her early childhood when she would sing with no instruments. Her connection with nature and the natural rhythms of life are what brought her to make her firstk Drum in 1987.
In 1991 she started the Central jValley Women's Lodge Sisterhood in California. She helped Women to connect with , know and honor the beauty of who they truly are. She leads Drumming Circles, Womens Circles and does Drum Making Workshops through out the US and Europe.
In 1992 she connected with her musical path. She and her daughter Yolanda Teuber began performing Native American Programs for the Elementary Schools.
In 1993 she and her daughter moved to Asheville, NC where she produced Six CD's ranging from Country, Latin, Contemporary and Traditional Native American.
Yolanda was Nominated in 2000 for BEST FOLK/COUNTRY ARTIST for her LONELY WARRIOR CD, in 2003 she was Nominated for BEST FEMALE ARTIST for her DESERT SONG CD and she brought the Award home for BEST FEMALE ARTIST IN 2004 for her NATIVE HEARTBEAT CD. Nominated BEST FOLK ARTIST 2007 for her AMERICA CD.
Yolanda started touring the US in 1994. She did her first "NATIVE HEARTBEAT INTERNATIONAL TOUR in 2005/06 and was a huge success with Concerts in Norway, Switzerland and Italy.
She is working on a new Latin CD to be released soon and a wonderful Jazz CD to follow.
