Fantastical characters, homespun folklore, and whimsical peril awaits you! Floor Plan invites you to join their musical universe, where you’ll be taken on a journey into imaginative rap lyrics and experimental soundscapes. In addition, they have finely crafted a live show that is a grab-bag of visual and sonic delights.
Formed in the summer of 2006, brothers Caleb, Kegan, and Drew Swyers began to experiment with sounds and unconventional rap lyrics. The Northwest Arkansas-based group spent months writing, recording and producing, and were finally released their debut album, Spitting Smoke, in mid 2007. Shortly thereafter, Floor Plan was invited to play the New Band Showcase at Cornerstone Music Festival 2007 and went on a subsequent tour through the Midwest.
Having finished their first tour, they began a grass roots tour playing local music venues and clubs, all the while developing a strong regional following. Their efforts eventually lead them to headline a 3,000 seat show in the Spring of 2008. This trend of good fortune continued when they were invited to an exclusive artists’ colony to hone their craft and receive professional guidance and hands-on experience in all things associated with the music industry from some of today’s most respected artists and executives.
Floor Plan is best known for its undeniably experiential live show, creating a wall of sound that captivates emotion and often defies cognition. Between Kegan jumping over his keyboards, Caleb dancing with the crowd, and the use of props including whirly whips and smiley-faced beach balls, Floor Plan is able to project its high-level energy onto the audience. Warren Pettit, the Director of the Contemporary Music Center said, “[Floor Plan] takes performance art to a new level of sophistication with their retro synth and modern rap sensibilities.â€
