Alpha Upsilon Chapter - "Brooklyn Omega"

Friendship is Essential to the Soul

About Me

Alpha Upsilon Chapter, affectionately referred to as "Brooklyn Omega" is an eclectic group of professional Men committed to the common cause of Uplifting our community. We range in age from 25 to 98, and we have Men in our ranks who are judges, doctors, lawyers, accountants, entrepreneurs, real estate moguls, record company executives, college professors, coaches, elementary educators/administrators, bankers, artists, writers, filmmakers, musicians, advertisers, members of law enforcement, community activists, mental health professionals, municipal workers, human service workers, members of the health field, and a diverse group of retirees ....The oldest living active member of our Fraternity - Brother Edward H. Taylor initiated at Alpha Chapter (Howard University, Washington, DC in 1928) - is a Charter Member of this Chapter and is highly revered and loved throughout the Organization; he is often referred to as an “Omega Jewel”. Alpha Upsilon Chapter was chartered November 1, 1949 in the Borough of Brooklyn, New York City by 38 distinguished graduate Men from Zeta Psi Chapter, Brooklyn, New York. Our main thrust is service to the community in various areas. In addition to adhering to all of the Mandated Programs of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., we actively participate in an annual holiday clothing and food drive, a holiday toy drive, a comprehensive Assault on Illiteracy Program, a youth basketball tournament (Dr. Carter G. Woodson Kwanzaa Basketball Classic), voter registration, blood drives, and the Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Walk. Our staple fundraising events include our annual Theater Party and a Brooklyn Mardi Gras. We just recently added an Art Auction and an “Old School” Omega Party to our fundraising repertoire.
