ANEN
The lure of senoritas and serenading Spanish Guitars are the first images that appears when we think of the Peruvian artist ANEN but instead he mesmerizes us with beautiful reggae flavoured messages, either to the girl "Who gives him love in the morning" or "Revoluci..n".
Hojas Ck's (Dried Leaves) were thrusted upon the Jamaican music scene through an invitation initiated by a meeting with Stephen Stewart at "Peru Splash" in 1992, to perform at White River Reggae Bash in 1994.Stephen Stewart with his eye for talent saw them, saw the group reaction of the Jamaican people to this Latin - Reggae group and decided to invest some time, energy in production with them. Naturally with such an association something was bound to happen and the song "Claudia", recorded at Grove Music IRIE FM Studios, was the outcome. "Claudia" has been an anthem for Peru and even after twelve years, is the hit it was in 1994. The video filmed at CPTC studios, Kingston is its constant companion in the Peruvian media.
The original band were three strong, Milton Huiza -Lead guitarist-, Miguel Ginocchio - Keyboard-, ANEN -Lead vocal and rhythm guitarist-, in addition to some electronic sensor to programme the bass, drum and other sounds. With increasing activity, which was the result of having a hit single and the urge to improve the sound, the band grew from 3 to 6 members: Miguel Rodrigues -Lead guitarist-, Lev Vidal -Drummer-, Marco Ginocchio - Percussion-, Victor Malasquez - Bass-, Miguel Ginocchio -Keyboard- and ANEN -Lead vocal and rhythm guitarist-Additional members include Antonio Ginocchio Snr -Trumpet-, Nestor Benitez - Saxophone-, Percy Recabarren -Trombone-.
This section is the same section that used by GianMarco -2005 Latin Grammy Award winner-.The journey continues and through the years the group have endured and learnt from the fierce competition. They have absorbed the intricacies of the music business. They have worked hard on their product and have created fresh, new and vibrant sounds.
Hojas Ck's broke up 1998 and ANEN and the group only did gigs together after special live or recorded events. The maturity and growth of ANEN earned him now, the confidence and flexibility to embrace projects like Latin Jazz with Gennady Jazz Band in Peru. He then became a part of Los Espectaculares Borgia (The Great Borgia) in 1998 and they were renowned through Peru, Chile, Bolivia and Argentina. He parted with Los Espectaculares Borgia in 2003 to pursue a reggae journey and naturally on such a sojourn he was taken to Kingston, Jamaica 2005.He became a member of the Edna Manley School of Music. ANEN will always record and he continued the journey into reggae land by producing and recording a work of art consisting four songs with Executive Producer being Nando Garcia: "Revoluci..n", "Tu all.. y Yo aqu..", "Black Soul" and "Madre".
His music oozes from his soul and with the belief that this mix of Jamaican Music and Latin vibes is his ordained work as a prelude to mass conversion and enlightenment of the Spanish-speaking world. Anyone who becomes exposed to ANEN'S persuasion is entrapt to at least examine their soul for the couple of minutes it takes to listen to "Madre", or to question all systems through "Revoluci..n", or cementing the belief in love by listening to "Tu all.. y Yo aqu.." (the ken-ken song).
ANEN speaks of his music as "a fusion of two different musical cultures, Latin and Reggae in Jamaican Style."ANEN is humble yet striking, he is awesome, but with an almost innocuous persona - he is explosive in words and song and is the great Reggae artiste of the world.
... "I would like to thank JAH for giving me this possibility to see things other people just can listen..." said ANEN in his music.
The band: Dub - Tonic Kru
Growing up in the central part of Jamaica, the members of Dub - Tonic Kru were born with music in their blood. Through study and practice, these young musicians were exposed to many different genres of music and at an early age were ready to embark on their professional careers. So from there moved to the North and West Coast to begin work in the hotel circuits.
The Kru, which was first known as Ruption Kru gained early, but serious exposure in both the recording studio and the live performance scene. They were presented with opportunities to work with some of founding fathers of Reggae Music and in doing so travelling extensively throughout Europe, the Caribbean and the Americas. The next stage in their development found Dub - Tonic Kru as the personal band members of such artists as Bushman and Junior Kelly. Besides frequent tours, overseas, the Kru also did their part to help keep live music alive in the recording studios by recording some of Jamaica's finest Reggae Rhythms. The "I swear" rhythm featuring songs such as "Marijuana" by Richie Spice and "I swear" by Chuck Fenda, the " Princess Gone" rhythm featuring Jah Mason, "Ready to Party" by Voicemail, and "Downtown Girl" by Angel are just a few examples of what Dub - Tonic Kru has contributed to Reggae music.
In addition, Dub - Tonic Kru members have also composed and appeared on many of today's top reggae albums including Bushman's "Sings" and Junior Kelly's "Smile".Dub - Tonic Kru made another career move when their music caught the ear of France's reggae icon and platinum selling recording artiste Pierpoljak. This led to the Kru becoming his personal band, which together are called Pierpoljak & Stim Turban.
A significant milestone came in 2001 when the Kru performed alongside Pierpoljak at the Victoire de La Musique (France's most prestigious music award show) held at the Olympia Venue in Paris. Pierpoljak won an award for best new album and the Kru shared the stage with the Likes of Lionel Richie, Sade, Craig David and a number of award wining French artists. After that, the Kru furthered their collaboration with Pierpoljak by composing the music on his latest album "Stim Turban".Dub - Tonic Kru goal is to take music above and beyond the ordinary. Their music has touched the hearts of many people throughout the world and by continuing to play and compose wonderful music. They hope to further contribute to the positive movement of Reggae Music.
ANEN and the fusion with the band Dub - Tonic
A relationship has been forced between ANEN and the Dub-Tonic. They now work together on production and seem likely to be together throughout this next stage of his development.Taking the music to another level is the fusion of the reggae and Latin genre as can be seen in the coming together of ANEN & Dub - Tonic. Planning to fascinate a whole new and boundless market represented by Latin America, this new combination will soon be a force to be reckoned with.
