About Me

About me:I am a poet, novelist, healer, and yoga teacher. Originally from South Africa, I was drawn to Brighton because I love the sea and identified with its bohemian atmosphere. This is a place where everything seems possible. Brighton provides me with inspiration to write on a daily basis.I've been writing poetry and stories since I was tiny and had my first publication at age nine in a local newspaper. In 2003 I performed my poetry at the Cape Town Festival and self-published a collection called 'The Bare Bones'. Recently I self-published 'The Bare Bones Volume 2', now available to order through My Space or at any of my performances. When I moved to Brighton I became involved in the Brighton Poetry Society open mike nights. These were my first platforms to express my art through an oral medium, and I found this very liberating, particularly as writing can be such an isolated exercise. Since then I have been performing at local events such as 'Raw', 'Hammer and Tongue', and 'Wordplay'. I have been featured as 'Poet of the Month' on the Brighton Poetry Society website (www.brightonpoetrysociety.co.uk ), been and also read and discussed my poetry along with other women writers, on Radio Reverb (www.radioreverb.com). I have written two children's books and am currently working on a novel for adults. It is my hope to reach out to an ever wider audience and to use my writing therapeutically in conjunction with my psychology and healing training. I would like to experiment with reading for different audiences and in different settings. I am also interested in collaborating with musicians in the future in as-yet unidentified ways!I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4
