XSPAINT.com - under construction
Here’s a little history about the man behind the Airbrush.
Jay started drawing pretty much since he was old enough to hold a pencil. Drawing everything from Comics, to Cartoons, to Cars/Trucks. Pretty much if he could “see it”, then it went on paper. His biggest art influences at the time were: Marvel Comics, Warner Bros Cartoons, Bob Ross and his Father, Paul. Around age 12, he stumbled upon the tool that would change his life forever, the AIRBRUSH. After about 6 months of shooting different types of paint he got discouraged and didn't think there was future in it. After spending his teens trying different media such as, different kinds of paint, charcoal, markers, computers, he realized that his passion was always with the all mighty pencil. Which lead right back to the airbrush.
In the summer of 2002, Jay was hanging out at a local bike shop fiddling with a 2"x2" block of foam. About 3 minutes after he picked it up, it was carved into a 3 dimensional flame lick, using only with a razor blade. The mechanic walked up and said, “Hmm if you can do that, can you tape flames on a bike?” Jay grabbed a roll of fine line and flamed a Harley-Davidson Fatboy in about 15 minutes. Later on that day, still at the bike shop, Jay started doodling on a piece of scrap paper. Ten minutes later, the mechanic walked up again to see the comic style rendering of SPAWN that he had drawn. He was blown away by how fast and detailed it was. “Well, you can obviously draw, ever use an Airbrush?” And that’s were it all started. Jay borrowed an airbrush to see if he still had it, and that’s when XSPAINT spawned.
Spending the next few years Jay spent his time taking his talent to the next level, while working part time to pay the bills. He was creating one off masterpieces on everything from, helmets, bikes, cars, hoods, intake pipes, guitars, etc. Pretty much anything that could get painted, did. In 2006 he worked for a local body shop to gain more experience in the automotive paint industry. That’s where he learned the tips and tricks about safety and producing a Show Quality Paint Job. There he focused on mastering the art of blending base coats, elaborate body work/ fiberglass work, and the tedious job of clear coating.
Though XSPAINT doesn’t offer bodywork, base or clear, that doesn’t mean that the quality will suffer. Jay has an eye for perfection and nothing will leave the premises without the XSPAINT seal of approval.
With having numerous Award Winning jobs under our belt, you can rest assure that you'll receive not only great customer service, but a One-off piece of art.
You’ll see Jay from time to time popping in at local shows and events, but for the most part he hides behind the gun. He’d rather have the artwork in the limelight than himself.
Along the way XSPAINT has developed a bunch of great friendships:
- DeBaise Bros Customs
-American Performance
- EFI Logics
- XX Tuning
- Miller Race Cars
-Performance Cycles
-Superior Auto Body
- Maaco of Middletown
XSPAINT is now a sponsor on the Late Model Mustang Club of CT
