Profile Edited by MPS MySpace Editor 2.0Playing the Blues... It's my passion, with every up and every down. I've been playing drums since '81 that's when I started jammin' with Harold van Dorth (aka "Fat Harry Dorth"). Soon we were joined by Patrick Obrist (aka "Sideburn") and fellow student (duh?) Jan-Peter Klijn (aka LD). He proved to be an excellent manager, roady, sound engineer and above all: a very good friend! After a couple of years, we ran into John Vos (aka "Johny V") and Fat Harry and the Fuzzy Licks was born! We started off with covers, but soon we started to write our own stuff as well. We've made a couple of demo's and 2 CD's so far ("Stream of Anger" in 2000 and "Pentatonic Pleasures" in 2004, both recorded at the Rob Orleman's studio in Tiel, the Netherlands). The latter was made with another hammond/keyboard player Rene "Reverend" Schutte, who's been playing with us since 2003 now. Early 2008 Monique de Jong replaced Patrick on bass and that meant a new era for our band. Together with Harold she's one of the most experienced bandmembers and they've played with numerous national and international blues stars: Robbert Fossen, Dicky Greenwood, Magic Frankie, Mr. Boogie Woogie, Little Boogie Boy, Nick Holt, Sam Taylor, Big Bones, Chick Rogers, Craig Horton, Henry Oden, Joe Louis Walker... to name a few.Contemporary blues is probably the best way to describe our music, since we aren't exactly blues purists... we love the Funk, Soul, and gospel in our music. Don't get me wrong: we do play a fair share of Shuffle, Slow and an occasional 12-bar blues, but the other stuff is our gravy! We play all around Holland, Belgium and occasionally in Germany as well. This year we did a tour with Jake Walker, played with Big Bones and more is still to come. We're also proud of the reactions of several people of one of our albums "Penthatonic Pleasures":The song "You Didn't Think About That" was chosen by the Belgian blues magazine "Back To The Roots" to go on their anniversary CD in 2003, along with celebrities like Kim Wilson and Craig Horton. That same honor was awarded to "Driving Machine" by the leading American blues magazine "Big City Blues Magazine" in January 2007!The whole album received very positive criticism by several international blues critics and fellow colleagues alike (see: news at www.fatharry.nl).I wanna thank you guys at MySpace... what a fantastic medium to reach other music lovers!!!
