Anyone with an interesting perspective who doesn't take him/herself too seriously.
As a former DJ at an eclectic college radio station I have really wide-ranging musical interests. I like some more mainstream stuff, and there are other things I like that I'd be really surprised if you'd heard of it. A very partial listing of the more well-known stuff includes classic rock like The Who and The Beatles; proto-punk like the Stooges and the MC5 and borderline punk like the Clash; more recent artists like Oasis and Beck... I have kind of a thing for 80s pop... and getting into the weirder, more obscure stuff, I like some artists classified as "alt-country" - the Old 97s, Neko Case, Moonshine Willy. There is an awesome British group named Arnold that do sort of mellow, psychedelic music that I love. Listening to a lot of Belle & Sebastian lately. Pink Martini is another awesome group that is hard to classify, I guess you might call them international/classical/jazz. I like artists from all over the world too, I have CDs in my collection by artists from places like Tanzania, India, Sweden... you get it, right? I also like classical music, and pretty much whatever if it fits the mood. As you can see I could go on about music pretty much all day. I also play the guitar and have been known to sing too.
The Aviator, The Big Lebowski, original Star Wars trilogy, Lord of the Rings (the 1st movie particularly), Spinal Tap, Airplane, Quills, Royal Tenenbaums, Napoleon Dynamite, the original Planet of the Apes, Silverado, Boogie Nights, Apocalypse Now, Full Metal Jacket, 2001... and so forth... any foreign film fans out there? I don't see a lot of them but there are a few I like - Together (a.k.a. Tilsammans - Swedish), The Celebration (a.k.a. Festen - Danish), Vertical Ray of the Sun (Vietnamese).
Curb Your Enthusiasm, Boston Legal, Ali G, Cal Bears football, Hardball (that political show w/ Chris Matthews, but it's not on at a time when I can see it very much anymore)... And if you want to get old school I love the 60s versions of Batman and Star Trek
On the Road, Travels with Charlie, Great Expectations, A Clockwork Orange, 1984, Animal Farm, To Kill a Mockingbird, Temporary Insanity (Jay Johnstone's autobiography), Please Kill Me - An Oral History of Punk, any John LeCarre novel... I like Shakespeare too but I haven't cracked any of his stuff since I stopped teaching English
Thomas Jefferson, Pat Tillman, my family (parents, brothers, grandparents), Socrates, Steve Irwin, Howard Hughes, Mister Rogers, Neil Armstrong
